As it has been revealed since yesterday evening, Senator Barack Obama has made it to the nominations of becoming the possible next President of the United States. I've been reading the comments ranging from pure pride and joy to the bitching and bitterness from all sides, but on a personal note I am definitely overjoyed with this result and hopefully, after everything has settled down over who we wanted as the democratic nominee, we can focus on what's really important here, and that's which person, Obama or McCain, is a better representative in this presidential race to become leader of this entire nation.

I don't normally discuss politics here for various reasons, but this is such an important thing that it would be ridiculous not to announce it, even though I'm sure everyone's heard about it already anyway.

Also I'm choosing not to get further involved with the Jared rumors other than what I've been hearing because that is their personal life and they should do whatever they choose to without fans hovering over their every little move they make. Privacy, I respect it and so should other fans. But hey, that's just my opinion.

i am so happy he won. i totally wore my 'barack star' shirt today, and me and my friends cut class this morning to go get breakfast. heh.

The thing with politics is that it's quite a fickle thing to get into, the same with religion with some people. You can have a nice friendship with someone but once you get into political debates it can become nasty if you're both of different parties or have different views, and sometimes I feel like I might drive people away based on my views or what I say. IDK, it's a touchy subject that I sometimes feel awkward getting into because I'd rather not get into a bitchfight over who is a better candidate, who has the more experience and whatnot.

But aside from that, politics do intrigue me because this is what our society is made up on. Government, law, politics, etc. Without it, where would we be? So I'm scared but fascinated at the same time. Is that weird? Heh.

There's something going on between his and Sandy's engagement, there's word that it's been broken off. I'm not sure of the entire details or how reliable the sources are (even if people are saying it's from reliable sources), so I'm kind of sitting back and not being involved until there's official word is being announced from their mouths, if they even decide to do so.

Eee, I know! Last night after it was made final I squeed. I don't tend to get too involved with politics that much, it's hard to keep track without getting myself a headache in the process I needs teh cliffnotes, but this made me very, very happy indeed. :D

I preferred Hilary to get the nomination because I don't think Barack has the necessary experience being a politician as she does. If he was running in 2012 with more under his belt, I would have been more inclined to support him, but I'll ultimately still support him since he does sure more of my leanings than McCain does.

I get so excited when I read about tidbits my favorite famous people, but there is that line that shouldn't be crossed. So unless Jared and Sandy announce it themselves, everyone should leave them alone. But that's common sense and people lack it.

My main concern are those who feel like they have to support McCain because Hillary didn't win, or people were so tired of the Clinton versus Obama thing that they were going to vote for the "other man". It's disheartening, IMO. I understand people's concerns over lack of experience, but for me Obama seems more like someone I would like to get behind than Clinton, who bugged me quite a bit over the course of this election. Eh well, I'm just happy with the outcome and that we're moving forward.

*nods* Yeah, I'd rather not be a vulture like the paparazzi who feel the need to photograph/get information over every little detail. But unfortunately sometimes fandom doesn't understand the words "common sense", henceforth the wank that ensues. :/

There's a silver lining to every cloud. And by that I mean I'm glad to see people happy about Obama who don't, in the same breath bitch about Clinton not conceding soon enough. Or about her shrill voice. Or about how a woman president would make the country less safe for terrorists.

I was just reading Jezebel and the media round-up they had going was disheartening to say the least. Amusingly, the Clinton/Obama rivalry has gotten so big that one wonders if now we'll have to talk *gasp* actual issues rather than alleged racist/sexist comments and what wearing pantsuits/a lapel pin (or the absence of it!) might mean.

To be honest, I don't blame you for not wanting to get into politics on your LJ. I used to, but I lost steam more than anything else. Maybe that's why most politico commentators on TV are a little wacky in the head?

He is, indeed, very cool. American politics is quite confusing and frustrating, so be glad you don't know much. Hell, I've been trying to read most of what's going on in this election and it still is very baffling to me.

What a weird election we're having... I think Obama will win because the country is so tired of the stereotypical 'old white man' and of the republicans as a whole, though I think this will be a choice made on privolous statements such as 'change' instead of on the issues. I also think that more youth will start voting in this election because of all the boundary-breaking that it is inducing, though I don't believe this will be done for many good reasons either... hmm.

Jared Padalecki, the actor. You'll have to be part of the Supernatural fandom in order to understand the gossip concerning his personal life, which I choose not to partake in.

You think so? I'm honestly not quite sure. This country re-elected Bush twice despite the mistakes he'd made, and with this current one many have been getting sick with the Hillary versus Obama fight not too long ago, even some have vowed that if Hillary didn't win the nomination, which she didn't, they were going towards McCain. Which is a petty reason just because their candidate didn't win, but unfortunately there are those kinds of people who'll do so. There's also the matter of people with going with McCain because he has more experience than Obama, which is a MAJOR thing for people to decide their specific candidate, though I'm not sure why.

I would love to see Obama win the presidential election, because he's a fresh face with fresh ideas of change, and I fully believe he can do this country some good. But with the citizens of this country, it seems they want change but always end up choosing someone with the same benefits as the last leader.

Thats true... but I think it was more of a combination of 'he started the war, he'll know what to do' and of Kerry's flip-flopping, wife's antics, and his overall lack of enthusiasm... I think a lot of the reasons for voting are petty in America, lol... I don't mind who anyone votes for, but I know that Obama is trying to reinforce heavy taxation of the upper and upper middle classes as well as going to let all of the current tax cuts that Bush set up expire... I'm not really sure how this is going to help the economy, exactly, lol... especially since he hasn't, to my knowledge, said where he wants all the tax dollars to go... *shrugs* I'll really have to study up on the hard facts before I make any permanent decisions, really... but neither of the two seem very appealing to me... though, neither did Hillary, lol...

I think if the youth category stands up, there will be a lot of support for Obama for just those reasons... although, less than half of residents vote, so I'm not really sure how anything will be decided with such small numbers of all demographics!

Yeah, that's something people need to consider when voting as well. There's going to be pros and cons for every candidate, but in terms of voting it'll be an individual preference to which candidate will be a good leader for this country, and people shouldn't be blindly following others and make up their own minds. Studying on the hard facts concerning either candidate is something everyone should do, and which I've been doing (although politics is somewhat hard for me to follow because right now everything's all disoriented, at least in my head *is not a political person*)

It's such a shame with the voting system nowadays, or even the lack of voters.
