rogueslayer452Okay. Here's my second part of the unpopular opinions, focusing on specific fandoms, and it's actually longer than the previous one I did. Go figure, eh? I knew I had plenty of opinions about things, I just never realized how much there was! Anyway, here they are, opinionated and unadulterated. If want something further explained than what I have written I'll be more than happy to elaborate (although I think I went pretty thorough on some of them, heh). Don't like them, that's your problem. I make no apologies for my thoughts on my fandoms. Simple as that.
Heroes
01. I may be in the minority that generally liked Volume 2. It had its flaws and wasn't perfect or organized well as S1 had been, but nevertheless I enjoyed it overall. I liked Maya and Alejandro's storyline though kind of wished they'd expanded it more, and certain storylines such as the "Nightmare Man" subplot was really interesting, and yes I did think that Maury Parkman had a frightening ability. The season had mistakes, editing/pacing-wise and the unnecessary romance between characters in such a short period of time and not really giving Niki a storyline that worked well post-S1 finale, but that's all I saw wrong with the season. Everything else was I had no problems with.
02. As much as I love Noah Bennet, I think he got what he deserved in "Cautionary Tales". I admire his dedication to the protection of his family, but he was becoming too erratic and dangerous and was too obsessive over those damned paintings that he didn't even consider that the actions he was taking would eventually lead up to his death. Getting shot was something he had coming for a long time now, and I'm glad for it whether fandom agrees or not.
03. I'm not into Petrellicest, aside from the wishing of Peter/Claire back in season one.
04. Overall, the dysfunctions of the Petrelli family intrigue me. I'm not really a Peter fan though I do like the direction in which they are heading with his character; I'm loving Nathan more and more every time he's on screen. Angela, while a cold-hearted bitch, is probably the most interesting Petrelli because of her many secrets she holds, and we never truly know which side she's on and I applaud the show for keeping her an intriguing character while still questioning her motives and her morally gray decisions. I also would like to take on Cristine Rose's theory that Angela Petrelli probably boinked all of the original twelve members at Woodstock. But hey, that's just wishful thinking on ALL our parts, right?
05. Mohinder Suresh is my favorite character. I love him dearly, and I'm saddened that he gets so mistreated by fandom. Also, I'd like to add: MOHINDER IS NOT STUPID, GODDAMMIT! I'm tired of everyone calling him that, furthermore I'm tired of fandom hating on him over the incident with shooting Bennet. I'm not going to make this another essay like the one I did before, but I will make it clear that Mohinder is only a simple man dealing with insane situations and doing his best to keep himself cool and collected and I'm impressed that he's managed to handle things quite well considering all that he's been through. He is merely human, humans make mistakes and are imperfect by nature, and while I would like Mohinder to have a stronger hold on things and not be so trusting of others, he continues with his main objective with helping people and doing the right thing.
So yes, I love Mohinder and haters can GTFO. You may not love his character, but don't be calling him stupid or else I'll be showing you the airlock.
06. My OTPs: Mohinder/Sylar (S1) and Matt/Mohinder (S2). No apologies.
07. I really adored Hiro in the first season, I loved how enthusiastic he was about his power and that he could become a hero and save the world, and the path of him learning that it's not as fun or exciting like it seems in the comic books. He was cute and bubbly and I loved him and Ando's adventures and self-discovery. However in season two I kind of lost that love because of his fallen friendship with Kensei and then not taking responsibility that perhaps it was of that betrayal that caused something dark within Kensei in the first place. Also, burying him alive was really cold and brutal, and I'm not sure if he realizes it but he's almost as dark as future!Hiro, only less badass.
08. I LOVE the Mohinder/Molly/Matt family unit setup. It's probably the most adorable thing Heroes has conjured up which caused an explosion of many adorable possible scenarios of how their little domestic situation could end up, and REALLY REALLY REALLY want it to expand into Volume 3. I don't care how they do it, I just want more M3 scenes or at least the acknowledgement that they are still a family unit.
09. Kristen Bell annoyed me as Elle in the beginning of season two, with the Lolita-esque slutty way she acted. I was like okay, that was totally unnecessary.
10. Mohinder monologues are love. ♥ I love their deep meaningful messages which connect to the episode it's attached to and the entire series, and for those who are bored with them obviously don't listen carefully to what he's saying.
11. I simple adored Claire during season one; I thought her character was well-developed from a regular high school girl going through self-discovery and finding that she isn't alone in the world, an allegory if you will. I was disappointed in season two concerning her storyline, the pointless romance with West, who I still wanted to have been evil from the beginning, to never actually getting into the bigger plots. Also, whatever happened to her awesome flowy/bouncy hair? Also, even though Thomas Dekker is AWESOME in TSCC I kind of want him back in Heroes, only because he rocked as Zach and his character was just simply forgotten, even by Claire who had FOUGHT to keep him her friend even after his memory was erased. Just, grrr show. At least have her acknowledge that Zach existed.
12. TO ALL FANFICTION WRITERS: Mohinder does not use British slang. He may have a British-Indian accent on the show, but that doesn't mean he uses words like "bloody" or "blimey" in a conversation. They've never written his dialogue like that in the show, therefore that is not his character. He's well-educated thus he speaks sophisticatedly, but never with any sort of British slang, so take that into consideration. Plus every time I see someone write Mohinder saying "bloody hell" I'll think of either Harry Potter or Spike, and I don't want that image in my head while reading something Heroes-related. I don’t mind coming up with a backstory of how he’d adapted such an accent, but that doesn’t mean he has to use the precise dialects used. ALSO NOTE that Mohinder does not cry easily, the only time he did so in the entire series was at his father's funeral. That's it. He's not going to shed tears over something petty or unnecessary, he's tougher than that.
13. Extreme Sylar fangirls, or those "Sylar Wives" as they call themselves, frighten me. Srsly. See, this is where the delusions of fantasy and reality enter. I love Sylar for being the dark and twisted character he is and the direction the writers are planning on taking his character next, NOT because I want to marry the guy. He's a freaking serial killing psychopath for goodness sakes!
Supernatural
01. I liked Jo. She might've not been developed as nicely given her short screentime, and she did have romantic views about hunting and a thing for Dean, but I saw great potential with her character had Kripke decided to take her and the Roadhouse storyline further. I am disappointed that he didn't like those ideas and decided to ditch them, because I thought there was some nice things he could've done with it (and it would've been nice for the boys to have other hunter contacts), but at least Jo wasn't killed off and it's left open for possibilities in the future. Still, I liked Jo Harvelle and thought it was unfair that the fanbase hated her which probably sealed her fate on the showanother thing I dislike about fandom in general.
02. Ruby is my homegirl. She is made of awesome and win and I love her to bits. Bela can die in a fire for all I care, kthxbai.
03. I'm not into Wincest. They are hot boys yes but, like the Petrelli brothers, I see their relationship strictly brotherly. Nothing more.
04. The Supernatural fandom frightens me, mainly from the rapid fangirls. Even though I've contemplated on going to conventions, the reports I read from others I'm scared to go five feet from the extremists and the squealing of the "OMG JEN/JAR R SO HAWT" fangirls and whatever. I can take opinionated people, just not those who push their thoughts and opinions and go batshit over every little thing that SPN has in the show (ex. wanking over new female characters, going on and on about race/gender issues, obsessively objectifying the boys, etc.)
Veronica Mars
01. Veronica Mars should've stayed one season. I seriously think it would've been better off that way, as the later seasons just lost all its original flavor. Specifically speaking, the Lilly Kane murder case was the only good storyline that came out of the whole thing. After that was solved, it transformed into something else entirely. I'm glad it got cancelled and I'm glad the VM:FBI series never picked up.
02. I thought Logan/Veronica was cute in season one, but after that they were a complete yawnfest. Plus fandom didn't help the cause by INSISTING that they were supposed to be the show's OTP and nothing else, and bashed Kristen Bell for not believing that Veronica and Logan were good together. Prime example of fandom immaturity.
03. I'm still pissed that they made Cassidy into a murdering rapist.
04. I've kind of fallen out of the Kristen Bell love. I'm not sure when this happened, but I generally disliked how she portrayed Veronica post-S1, and I'm not sure if that was the direction or how it was written, it just didn't feel right to me. S1!Veronica was who I fell in love with, but when they changed her character into purposely pushing her sarcasm into conversations instead her snarkiness just being subtle and cute, I started disliking the character. I also guess this was also why I wasn't whooping with joy when I heard she was going to be guest-starring on Heroes, because of bitter feelings I had with the direction VM had with her character.
05. If I were to ever watch S3 it would have to be for Weevil. Because I love him.
Battlestar Galactica
01. I prefer Kara to have all the mens she can without the predicament of being with one guy, since we know that doesn't last very long. Kara/Lee, Kara/Leoben, Kara/Sam, whoever and whatever, I don't care. She has chemistry with all of them on many different levels, so really it's Kara/Everyone.
02. Cylons >>> Humans. Trufax. *waves pro-Cylon flag*
03. The revelation of the four of the Final Five didn't really bother me, in fact looking at it from another perspective it makes sense that those characters were chosen. I feel that others don't like it because we've come to know these characters ever since the beginning and it's hard to believe that they would be Cylons after all that's happened. But again, I look at the evidence and where the show's mythology is taking us, where these characters stand in matters of importance and I think it's interesting at why RDM picked them. The same thing with having Kara "die" and the come back, it's an excellent twist.
04. I want Boxey back.
Harry Potter (interesting, because I'm no longer in this fandom, but I do have one thing to say....)
01. If there's one OTP in this fandom, in the canonical sense, it would have to be Harry/Hermione. No, I'm not an insane shipper, I would've just preferred it because I thought they had a wonderful friendship and I saw potential for them to be together, and was disappointed with the ending results (and the entire epilogue of DH was bleugh). I thought pairing Ron and Hermione is kind of cliched, the same with Harry and Ginny. With the latter I felt it was too obvious, not well executed, and very Oedipus-like to be honest.
I have some more for other fandoms, but I figured this would be enough for right now. There'll be other opportunities to organize the others ones, as this one took quite a while. So yay, go me.
Heroes

1. I think those of us who generally liked the second season of Heroes are a rare species. I don't know. The amount of bitching and whining may just get more attention than anything else. I liked Alejandro more than Maya but it's not like I hate her. I'm just presently indifferent to her. However, of all of the adults present on the series, I really want Maya to team up with Mohinder and find a way to take Sylar down once and for all. Nothing romantic but they can help one another.
2. You know what I think of this.
3. I kind of like Nathan/Peter but never liked Peter/Claire. Too much of the hero and damsel in distress for my liking. Although Claire really isn't that much of a damsel, at least not in the first season.
4. Angela pwns. It'd be so funny if what Cristine said about the Company founders meeting at Woodstock actually became canon.

6. My OTP is still Mohinder/Sylar but I do love Matt/Mohinder.
7. I think Hiro did think about his betrayal against Kensei but it didn't happen immediately. Maybe some of it will come up in the third season.
8. I really want more M3 too though I think the only thing that is connecting Matt and Mohinder together at this time is Molly. What is it with people's names starting with M in this series anyway?
9. I never watched Veronica Mars or anything else Kristen was in before she started appearing in Heroes. Not that I'd allowed her past roles dictate what I thought of her in this series. I wasn't impressed with her in the beginning either but she's grown on me.
10. Me too. Besides it means more time to hear his voice!

On Battlestar Galactica
1. Kara, like Mohinder, has chemistry with everyone! XD
2. I need to catch up with the series before I can give you my thoughts on this.
3. Wow. People still in denial about them being Cylons. I knew Sharon was a Cylon way before I saw the mini-series and it still bummed me out when we saw a copy of her at the end of it.
4. Who the frak is Boxey? Wait. Don't tell me.
On Harry Potter
1. :O :O :O :O *defriends you* I kid, I kid.
I've always shipped Harry/Ginny, but I did not like how JKR wrote it. I think Harry/Ginny would have been better if stuff happened as early as OotP.

People who write crying!Mohinder baffle me. I'm like, WTF? Do these people even watch the show? There's other ways to show emotion other than crying about it! I have yet to see a fic where Mohinder just lashes out and starts hitting things, like punching a wall or punching someone else. Angry!Mohinder = love.
Great, now you got me thinking of Kara/Mohinder. Thank you. ;)
Re: Boxey, he was the little kid in the miniseries that Sharon saved on Caprica, he also appeared next to Starbuck in "Bastille Day" all the way back in S1. I don't know, most people didn't like him because he was a kid (IDK) but I thought that buddy-bond with him and Kara was nice, like he looked up to her or something. It was shortly lived, but I think it would've been cool if he stuck around a little while afterwards. It was like he was there and then....he wasn't.
Harry/Ginny would've been better executed if Ginny had been more of a feature or there was more chemistry with her in the series. It just felt kind of staged, like JKR was like "well, here ya go". I don't know, it just didn't feel right to me (and it's going to be REALLY weird seeing Bonnie with Daniel in the HBP film).

I think with enough practice or control she'll be able to target someone and just that one person without affecting anyone else. That would be an awesome way of getting her character to be kickass in the next season and really raise hell against Sylar for manipulating her. Also, I can definitely see a team of Mohinder, Maya, Elle, Peter and Matt to try and make a difference....of course, that's my personal wish. I also want Mohinder and Claire to have a full scene together, but after the events in "Cautionary Tales" I'm not sure that's going to happen anytime soon....
See, we MUST be brain twins! Because I was so disappointed when we didn't get a full explanation in "Four Months Ago" about, aside from M3, how Mohinder and Bennet even partnered up or what their plan of action really was from the beginning! That would've made "Cautionary Tales" much more effective.
