++ Something to know about me is that I hate summer. I hate the heat. I live in a place where it gets into the triple digits (fahrenheit), and it doesn't matter if I have two fans going on in my room I still end up uncomfortable. I also have been having bouts of insomnia due to uncomfortably warm nights. :(
++ Honestly, Exandria Unlimted: Calamity was just simply amazing, a deeply emotional ride that we all knew was going to go down that route but it still sucker punched you at the right moments. This is all due to Brennan Lee Mulligan who knows how to throw those curve balls, and I'm so happy that he was the guest DM for this mini-campaign because he just knows how to weave tragedy and dark moments and twist those emotional knives in your stomach. It's what I expected it to be and then some. What's interesting is that even non-CR fans started watching this and got invested, because this is a mere prequel to Matt's world, set thousands of years before the first campaign, so there wasn't really anything to be spoiled by. So if you're interested, it's only four episodes, but man, not only is this a great setup for the world that Matt created but it's also a good taste for those unfamiliar with Brennan Lee Mulligan's DMing style, which I know from watching Dimension 20's various content. The first twenty minutes of the first episode alone should be enough to really set to stage, I knew where it was all heading towards and yet it still blew me away with how it was presented.
++ While I'm still riding on my Guardian high, I've been watching some short cdramas. There's a plethora available to watch, though I ended up watching Farewell, My Villain (short, adorable, sweet, reverse transmigration BL-esque with a hopeful ending), Uncle, Let's Get Married (transmigration, funny and sweet, features a handsome fox spirit), Her Royal Highness / Eldest Princess Above (incredibly fast-paced and major sexual tension, like whoa), and Legend of Yunze (from the people behind Legend of Yunqian, another very short webisode drama, with the same actresses, adorable content). There are others that I'm curious to check out, since they're short and it's easy to see what they're like, but these have been my favorite so far.
Aside from the shorts, I've also been watching Dr. Qin: Medical Examiner (2018), which I'm happy to find since I'd been looking for that version for some time because Liu Haikuan was in it and wanted to check it out, and I've been enjoying it so far, not just for Liu Haikuan's character but the main lead is also good, too. It's a crime procedural, and I tend to like those a lot depending on how well they're done, structurally, and not only do I find the cases interesting I also like the way certain sequences are done on the show, like Dr. Qin going into his "mind palace" (as I refer to it as) during investigations and there's a nice little thing where he ends up "talking" with the ghosts of the victims in private. Also, I have to say, something that I love and appreciate about this drama is how well they do the investigations -- they're wearing not only gloves but also face masks, hair nets, and booties over their shoes at crime scenes and in the autopsy. Western media can barely have people wearing appropriate attire that doesn't contaminate evidence. I know it's fictional, but still.
++ Since I've been kind of living vicariously through other people's reactions to it and the gifs and such, I will be watching KinnPorsche at some point.
