Since things are going slow in LJ-land at the moment, I've decided to spice things up with a little meme. Yes, I've recently done this before but that doesn't matter. It's fun.
1. Leave me a comment saying anything random, like your favorite lyric to your current favorite song. Or your favorite kind of sandwich. Something random. Whatever you like.
2. I respond by asking you five questions so I can get to know you better.
3. You will update your LJ with the answers to the questions.
4. You will include this explanation and offer to ask someone else in the post.
5. When others comment asking to be asked, you will ask them five questions.
Now my answers to [livejournal.com profile] aelora's questions:

1. First fandom?
My first fandom was Animorphs, both the books and the infamous short-lived television series. I read the books, though stopped midway because of differing interests, but that's mainly the first fandom that I got really invested in for the longest time. It was this fandom that I discovered slash for the first time, after accidentally stumbling across a Jake/Marco very badly written smutfic.

2. If you had to watch only one TV show the rest of your life, what would it be?
Now that's just cruel! I honestly would choose something that's had lots of seasons, or enough to keep me interested and entertained for the rest of my life without ever getting tired of it. I'm torn between Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Battlestar Galactica. I've been recently on a BSG kick, so definitely the latter of the two, but it's a tough call.

3. Favorite all-time song?
That should be renamed to "favorite all-time song this week", however I guess I would have to say "How Do I Live?" by LeAnn Rimes. There just something about the way she sings it that gets me sentimental.

4. Do you think there's life after death?
I believe that life-after-death is how the individual percieves it as. Does the soul continuing living on after the body has been disposed of? Does a person's subconscious linger about, dealing with unfinished business or are we simply reincarnated into another body later on? All these are questions that I've thought and still think about, because while the notion that death is death in scientific rationality I want to believe there's more to it than that. I really can't come up with a definite coherent answer because I don't know the answer to that kind of question. So, I hold firm that death is how another person makes it out to be, and that wherever we go from there is our own initial idea of the afterlife.

Now that was a difficult question to really think about.

5. Bugs Bunny or Daffy Duck?
Bugs Bunny, though I wasn't really into Loony Toons. I was more of the Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck crowd.

Also answers to [livejournal.com profile] carpesomediem's questions:

1. If you could only watch one TV show the rest of your life, what would it be and why?
As mentioned in the questions above, Battlestar Galactica. The explanation is simply because it never gets old, there's something so endearing and interesting about it and how it's portrayed. In terms of realism, dealing with the ongoing questions about the morality of humanity, politics, the hardships of war and relationships, with the science fiction element of creating something that you regret yet the symbolism of humanity...it does get deep, and it does allow the viewers to think, to question themselves and life in general, and is overall intriguing and entertaining. You don't find something like BSG nowadays in television, and for those familiar with the original series this is entirely different and with good reason. It's just so real, and even if you're not into scifi it connects with everyone on that very real, very human level.

This is turning into more of a description about why I love the show, but that's why I would choose it as the only television series I'd want to watch over and over. Also for shallow reasons, there are gorgeous people on this show.

2. What's your favorite book?
I'll name a few, because it's hard to choose: To Kill A Mockingbird by Harper Lee, Flowers in the Attic by V.C. Andrews, and Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov.

3. Why do you like jpop?
I find it compellingly different from what is normally heard on radio stations and the Top 40, although it's not entirely different because JPop is mainly influenced by Western music and media industry. There's more creativity, heart and passion going into their works and even with manufactored groups (i.e. Hello! Project and Morning Musume, for example) they still maintain that level of energy that never seems to die down. Now, I'm not saying that with JPop there aren't the same mishaps as seen in the Western music industry; there are artists that cannot perform well and there are scandals, however I don't pay attention to the majority of that gossip. I like the music because it's different. From the typical fluffy/bouncy JPop to the stylish hip-hop sounds of JUrban, if I like what I hear than it's all good with me.

And I'd like to mention, if I haven't mentioned before, that it's not just JPop I listen to. I like all varieties of foreign music. I like keeping my musical tastes open to anything and everything, and I don't necessarily care where it came from.

4. Are you excited for Deathly Hallows?
Not particularly. I've kind of grown out of the Harry Potter stage, so I'm not very enthusiastic like most people are right now.

What was your favorite new show from the 2006/2007 season?
Heroes! Of course, was that a surprise to anyone?

2. If you were going to write a crack!fic crossover between three different fandom universes, which would they be and what would happen?
3. Disneyland or Disneyworld?

1) Kara Thrace.
2) Supernatural, Smallville, and Gilmore Girls. I'm not sure what would happen, aside from the Winchesters and their Metallicar being the definition of AWESOME across the board... Perhaps mad shenanigans with coffee and meteorites.
3) Disneyland. It has the Indiana Jones thrill ride.
4) Because I HAVE tried them, and don't like them as a result of that.
5) ...I don't think so.

1. Damn straight!
2. Hee, the Metallicar wins at everything. I can totally see the shenanigans with Sam and Dean screaming while giddy off of the coffee while driving away from the meterorites. (What? I can't think of scenarios too?)
3. Indiana Jones ride FTW! :D
4. But not ALL of them! That's why you have to EXPERIMENT, mix-and-match, you know. Perhaps fruit salad with chilli!
5. C'mon, you know that would be frakking AWESOME! ;)
