Psych 2.01 "American Duos"

The show is BACK BABY, YAYS! Shawn, Gus, Juliette, and Lassie, how I've missed you all!

This episode was basically a spoof off of American Idol, which was freaking hilarious because of how uncanny it all was. It was so perfect, the chosen cast portraying the judges. Especially Tim Curry. How perfect was he in that role? Portraying the character Nigel St. Nigel (heh) which is reminescent to Simon, except he was much funnier and wasn't annoying. So much hilarious moments happened tonight, the Mr. Bean comment by the woman posing as the "Paula" character who, ironically, was drugged and whacked out of her mind. Juliette getting her groove on while training Shawn and Gus for "dancer boot camp" (I laughed out loud with that one!), along when she was doing the hip-hop moves while trying to be discreet, Nigel annoying the hell out of Shawn's dad, Lassiter and the "Paula" character scenes. Just, OMG so much awesome!

Greatest thing about it though? The undercover codenames: Shawn SpenStar and Gus "T.T." ShowBiz? In the words of [livejournal.com profile] keykook16, "those sound like porn star names!" And they certainly do. Hee.

The case was good, a nice start into the new season. I figured it was one of the contestants, though I didn't suspect it was the other judge helping along with the plans of killing Nigel. Of course, the funniest was how Nigel utterly dismissed and laughed about it was the "poorest attempt of murder" he'd ever seen. That's exactly how it should've been done, for that kind of character anyway.

Oh, and how awesome were Shawn and Gus and their talent show performance? Seriously. It's back, people, and I'm loving every second of it. Hee!

If you're not watching Psych what the hell is wrong with you, then I'll direct you to a fantabulous picspam made by [livejournal.com profile] carlyinrome detailing exactly WHY you should be watching the show, and how amazingly awesome it truly is.

Tonight I was also watching Cruel Intentions on OnDemand, which is my favorite guiltiest pleasure movies to this day. Bringing in the hot step-siblingcest and sexual innuendos, remembering back when I first saw it many years ago I hardly knew half of what they were talking about and today I keep thinking "OMG that is so dirty!" but still loving it. Also, it was SMG strongest performances and makes me wonder why she isn't doing those kinds of roles anymore, and feeling nostalgic when Ryan and Reese appear onscreen together.

I didn't watch Psych season 1, but I watched the premiere last night (I'll have to mention it when I do my Big Love post later) and so so funny. I need more time, lol.

Psych was freaking hilarious. The last few moments were golden. And who knew Jules was a dance Nazi, complete with off the shoulder shirt, shiny tights, and pink headband? :)

I love how she was like "you're in this to WIN THIS!" while Shawn and Gus were all, "WTF Jules?". Hee! She looked adorable though in that outfit.

I love this show. I was cracking up the whole time last night. XD

I loved Cruel Intentions. The ending made me soo mad. Was Ryan's character's name Tristan? I can't remember. But he had finally turned good and he dies! how is that right?! HAHA SMG's character was soo unlike her. I loved it!

His name was Sebastian, and it was depressing how his character went out but justice had been served when Annette made copies of his journal blackmailing and destroying Kathryn for good. Sebastian learned how his wronged intentions just to keep his reputation as the city's bad boy made him understand how utterly wrong it was, and how to truly fall in love. He was a tragic character and like all tragic characters, meet an unfortunate end or realization. It's really a dark-drama film, but a classic in my eyes.

I loved SMG's character. So evil, so manipulative, so perfect. She played her incredibly well. I'm just bummed that she hasn't done anything remotely similar since. She does evil roles well, and Kathryn was the symbol of irredeemable evil. SMG should do those roles more, unless her husband continues to make the decisions for her.

The whole movie was a modern version of the novel Les Liaisons dangereuses (sort of like how Ten Things I Hate About You was a modernized version of Taming of the Shrew), something that I desperately want to read to see the similarities. I just love CI, I can practically say all the lines from it now. Hee.

Sebastian?! where did I get Tristan from? HAHA

did you watch the sequel to Cruel Intentions?

I need to rent that book. I loved the movie so the book might be even better. :D

Perhaps they sound similar? I don't know. XD

Oh Lord, no! The prequel looks so incredibly corny, and if there's no SMG, Ryan or Reese or ANY of the original actors I'm definitely not interested. I heard it was horrible anyway, as was the third film. Bleugh!

The book wasn't about the film, it's the story that influenced the film. So everything will be different; the era and time period, though the character names are similar it's completely different. If you want the true adaptation films from the French novel Les Liaisons Dangereuses then you can rent either Dangerous Liasions (the actual translation of the novel) or Valmont. Cruel Intentions is a modern tale of it, taken simply the manipulations of two siblings of the upper class ruining the lives of others, and the downfall of this lifestyle.

oh, well forget that then. I won't bother reading it. I need to buy the DVD. I'm sure I can get it at a discount price since it's been a while since it's been out.

yeah, I heard the same thing about the other movie, but I had no idea that there was a 3rd one! that's way too many. now, wait a minute. Was Kerr Smith in the 2nd one?

Well, I wouldn't dismiss it completely. It may in fact be a good read, maybe not depending on your kind of reading material. Heh.

There's only the two, and thank GOD they aren't making anymore. I heard that the second one, the prequel, was actually supposed to been a television series but it didn't make the cut so they created it into a movie. A bad one. They shouldn't destroy the classics by making crappy sequels. It's so...tacky, at least I think so. I have no idea if Kerr Smith was in it, and I don't care either way.

the reason I was asking if he was in it was because I think I saw the sequel and I hated it! I really need that dvd! HAHA
