Short horror films.
Oct. 26th, 2023 01:32 amWhile I enjoy horror throughout the year, October is the appropriate month to indulge in anything and everything of the genre, revisiting things I loved and even discovering things that are new. Over the last several years I have a habit of marathoning short horror films that have been uploaded online, mainly on YouTube. There's a wide variety out there, worldwide, varying from subgenre and language and culture, some that are individually uploaded while others are hosted on specific channels dedicated to showcasing horror. Some are good, some not so good (subjective, of course), some that really linger with you and wish that it could actually be a fully developed movie (although not really because oftentimes the short format works best, but it's a compliment to those who worked on it for being so impactful that it makes one yearn for more of that story, and some of them are quite open-ended where it's presenting itself as a mere idea being put out there with the possibility of there being more of the creator wants to, but it's not always a necessity). Either way, point being it's been kind of a recent tradition that I am enjoying thoroughly in between rewatching some of my favorite horror/Halloween media.
To recommend: ALTER is a channel that features a load of short horror from a wide range of directors and storytellers.
Similarly, the DUST channel is where there's a lot of short science fiction films, some that even have scifi horror featured as well. Both channels/companies seem to be associated or affiliated with one another, which makes sense.
