Day 4: First movie you saw at a movie theater

That I can remember, The Rescuers Down Under. I'm not entirely certain if it really truly was the first movie I watched in the theater, but it's the one that I have at least the vaguest memory of.

--

Speaking of films, I recently watched Prey (2022) and it was absolutely wonderful. Now, I haven't seen any of the Predator movies and only have limited and quite vague knowledge of the franchise itself, but honestly you don't need to know anything about them in order to watch this movie. It's practically a stand-alone, with a few nods to previous films that only those who know of them would pick up, but otherwise it's pretty easy to follow. The reason that I wanted to watch this film was mere curiosity, word-of-mouth from people I follow who have been hyping it up due to the casting (Indigenous actors and how the film honors Indigenous culture), although it was mainly because of Amber Midthunder who I've seen and liked in other things, so seeing her be the lead in this was such a treat. She basically carried the entire movie and was amazing.

(Also, for those who worry, her dog companion survives. That's the only spoiler I'm going to give.)

I remember the Rescuer movies! Or at least two of them, not sure if there were any more. But I definitely remember The Rescuers Down Under.

I remember seeing The Rescuers Down Under as a kid! I thought it was a cute movie!

That's good to hear that Prey (2022) is good! My husband wants to watch it because he likes those type of movies.

Glad you liked Prey! One of the Indigenous Canadians in one of my discords liked it, so... I've heard from other friends who liked it. I'm really not into those kinds of movies, but it's nice to know that a movie and mostly the crew who worked so hard to make it appealing to First Nation groups is being generally well-received from what I've seen.

I loved Prey! I've seen other movies in the franchise and didn't connect the dots that this could be a good standalone for people looking to get into the franchise or just wanting to watch a good movie :D Amber Midthunder was amazing and I totally agree that she carried the entire movie.

I honestly can't remember the first movie I saw...I remember going to see Star Wars when it came out with my sister and our best friends, but I'm sure I'd been to the movies before that. Just...don't remember. Star Wars was pretty damn amazing. :D

I watched 'Prey' and it was fine. I'm not much into movies like that or the franchise, but I wanted to see it for the cast. I watched with the audio in Comanche, which was very cool.

Oh, I heard a lot of good things about Prey. I guess, I'll put it on my to-watch-list as well :)

That's exactly why I liked watching them! Pure entertainment value. They basically take slasher movies and make it an action story with an alien hunter in the middle of it :D
