++ I know that with everything happening right now and the uncertainty of what's going to happen, with schools and businesses closing for the time being and everyone being advised to hunker down until everything gets settled, that people are understandably concerned and worried about what's going to happen. I know it feels like some kind of post-apocalyptic dystopian situation right now. I do think the way media is reporting on these things isn't helping matters especially towards those who are hoarding everything under the sun like it's the end of days, however that doesn't mean we shouldn't be taking this seriously. Just take the necessary precautions: stay at home if you're able to, wash your hands thoroughly, have sanitizer on hand as well, keep informed the best you can without worrying too much or overthinking, and stay safe to keep others safe.

++ For more uplifting news, a second person has been cured of HIV. Very good news, indeed.

++ I have been obsessed with Dua Lipa lately. First with her releases of "Physical" (the song, the music video, and the alternate work-out video for it), and then the "sitcom" she did for Vogue. Now, I've really liked Dua's music before but I never quite followed her, much like with any artist I like I don't intensely follow them until they put something out, so hearing that people used to make fun of her dancing style and were heavily critical of her on stage performances was a bit of a surprise. But what I like is that it appears that she took the criticism she was given previously to heart and actually bettered herself to make her upcoming sophomore album the best it can be, including improving her dancing, which you can see during the "Don't Start Now" live performance she did. She's not doing anything too difficult, it's simple but there's synchronicity and rhythm to it which makes it work. Plus, overall I like the modern 80s/90s feel of her releases so far.

++ I previously mentioned that I had sporadically rewatched some episodes of Are You Afraid Of The Dark?, and upon this I was doing some random searching around and I found out that they had released audiobooks (on cassette tapes) called Tales from the Midnight Society, they were limited editions and only available if you won a contest. Someone has placed them all on YouTube (tape one, tape two, and tape three), and it's really interesting listening to them because it is the cast, at least three of them, actually telling stories as you would hear them sitting around a campfire. It plays kind of like a radio play, there are sound effects and such, but it's them narrating the story instead of us seeing it enacted by different actors like on the show. So that was very cool. Another difference is that these are more short stories that don't really follow the regular format of what you see in the actual show. It's just so fascinating because I know there were AYAOTD books released (I owned at least one, perhaps two), but I never knew about the audiobooks and I'm glad to have finally been able to listen to them.

Yeah, I think that played a part in even me initially being like "sigh, seriously, it's fine" because on paper, that sounds like hysteria. But people being unproductive in their urgency doesn't mean there shouldn't be any urgency.

That's great news!

And then you get the news stories about the people taking advantage of other people who are in this unproductive desperation by buying out items only to sell them online for obscene prices, which some places are cracking down on these re-sellers, but still. It really speaks to the way some people act during these times. It's one thing to be informed and take the necessary steps to protect yourself and others and remain safe, it's another to overreact or not be smart about it.

If it's not about this, then it's about the election and politics, both which are necessary to be informed about but it's everywhere and sometimes it can overwhelm you, especially if you're on social media where it's inescapable.

You too!

Thank you, you stay safe and healthy too. ❤

Same to you, as well. :) ❤

Thanks for the news about the person cured of HIV! A bit of coincidence, because I only read about the first incidence of a person being cured the other day, via TARDIS Wiki I think.

More sensible advice than a lot I've seen out there and I agree about the media! There are some tabloids over here who go with the attention grabbing headlines, and it doesn't help when we read contradictory things from the experts too (example: experts having given different figures for the death rate, which was explained by one expert looking only at cases of people who had actually been in hospital while the other expert was taking into account people who didn't need hospital treatment, so both were in their own way correct but it could confuse people).

There's just a lot that's unknown, and it's understandable that people are going to be concerned and confused about the conflicting information they are receiving (esp from experts), but that shouldn't mean that they need to start panicking and blowing things out of proportion. And we're seeing both sides here where people are full blown panicking like it's the end of the world to others being nonchalant and not taking it seriously and acting like this is all a hoax. Just, people need to be smart about this.

My older brother keeps asking everyone how it is living through the apocalypse lmao. And when I left for work this morning, I was like, I feel like I"m driving through the apocalypse because there was NO TRAFFIC. ANYWHERE. And that's just unheard of. Otherwise, it's more nuts when you go into a store because people are acting crazy and most of the stuff is gone. It's wild and I think people are def panicking at a level that's way more than needed (stocking up on food like they'll never see it again is def what's happening due to that).

People have been kind of overdoing it on both sides, one side believing that it's no big deal and are risking themselves and others, while on the other side people are panicking and hoarding like crazy. Seeing people stock up and hoard things like toilet paper and food is actually making it difficult for other people who are looking for these items that, especially in places that are on heavy lockdown, can create a lot of problems.

We definitely live in interesting and uncertain times at the moment because of this. But, as I've learned, these kinds of things have happened and will continue to happen. And this should be a lesson in how we, as human beings, react to these types of situations because unknown circumstances will keep on occurring in our lives no matter what. Sure, some people are hoarding and being senseless and irresponsible on both sides, but there are people who are helping others, who are doing whatever they can to keep themselves and others safe and offering support and reassurance. We need to focus on those positives instead.

It's a really scary time, but I do believe things will return to normal and everything will be okay. I just hope it's sometime soon and doesn't take months. Unfortunately if people don't take it seriously it'll take a while. =/

Exactly, and that's something I don't understand. Even if someone doesn't believe that this is a big deal, they should at least treat it like it is. Seeing the levels of recklessness and irresponsibility some have during this time is truly unbelievable. The fastest way of getting things back to normal is by abiding by the warnings and rules that are set. It may seem like an inconvenience to you, but better safe than not, y'know?

Yeah, the grocery stores are begging people to just shop normal. There will be enough stuff if people just stop buying like crazy people.

Ooh, cool about curing HIV though. That's amazing.

The problem is how quickly everyone started hoarding, like before any kind of quarantine order was introduced to most people or even how fast the virus was spreading, and it started this unfortunate chain reaction. Once you see people hoarding, everyone feels compelled to hoard even when they didn't think they needed or wanted to. I agree that people need to stop and just shop normally, because stores cannot keep up with having to order more items and restock shelves if people are going to be greedy assholes. But when panic arises, people start becoming illogical and, well, shit like this happens.

It's definitely an interesting kind of study on human behavior and how we, as a society, function to be honest. It's a horrible situation that's happening right now, but we're seeing both the good and bad sides of humanity.
