++ Another friending meme.

++ Sleepy Hollow has been renewed for a third season, and they'll be getting a new showrunner, which thank goodness. After the disappointment and mess that was S2, I'm crossing my fingers that things will get back on track and fall back into rhythm is should've been following the first season. I'm still slightly apprehensive about how things will progress from here, though. There needs to be an understanding between the new showrunner and the already established lore, character relationships and structure of the show and the fanbase attached to it. So, in other words, I'm remaining cautiously optimistic about this development. We shall see where it goes.

++ The Crucible, starring Richard Armitage as John Proctor, which made its debut last year at the Old Vic theatre, is now available to buy on digital download. You can also get the exclusive interview he did discussing his role and other related topics to the play and theatre in general. I have yet to download it myself, but I have no doubt that it'll be absolutely phenomenal and well-deserving of its praise, not just do to Richard's performance but for the entirety of the play itself and everyone involved.

I went to the Old Vic to see Richard Armitage in The Crucible last year and it was AMAZING. I'm not sure how well it will play recorded though, because so much of the impact was down to the atmosphere they generated - it was all in the round, no stage, practically no props, very dim smoky lighting, and they had this constant low frequency hum in the background that really set you on edge almost without realising it. I'm not sure how much of that will come across recorded. But the performances were incredible, although I must confess the 'possessed' girls were a little over the top and had me hiding laughter at a couple of points. And it was a very shouty performance, everyone shouted a lot, which was a bit much in such a small theatre. It made it hard to tell sometimes what people were actually saying. But it was one of those theatre performances that was incredibly gruelling just to watch - we came out feeling wrung out and exhausted.

You know, I swear when a show has a bad first season, the next is good, and vice versa. Unfortunately that sometimes means it all spirals from there; hopefully in this case, it was just a second season slump. And maybe in this case a new showrruner will be good - are they at least keeping some of the writers? I've seen bad things happen when too much changes - sometimes even if it's just a lot of new writers and still the same showrrunner.

I have no idea about the writers situation. I think I recall there being some drama regarding a few of the writers on Twitter, but other than that I have no clue on what's going down in that department.

In short, I think the responsibility falls on both the showrunner and writers. The showrunner sets the tone and the writers follow, though there will be that one or two writers who might go against the grain, for better or worse.

It's true that it'll never be the same, it can't possibility be the same as a live performance in front of you where the atmosphere makes the experience so much more involved, esp as you said with some an intimate space. But the director of the play oversaw the entire filming process in hoping capture the essence of the production as possible, and judging from the reactions from people who downloaded and seen it, it succeeded.

Also, I'm glad that it was filmed for those who couldn't see it live, even if the surrounding atmosphere is taken away it doesn't (and shouldn't) take away the intensity of the actual performances. I can't wait to see it myself once I'm able to download it.

From what I hear it's incredibly powerful and intense performance, the entire play itself is basically emotionally crippling and Richard is entirely proud, as he (and everyone else involved) should be. :)

I'm cautiously optimistic about Sleepy Hollow getting another season. Hopefully they'll get back to focusing on the great chemistry between Abbie and Ichabod now that the Crane family drama is over. Some angst from Ichabod will be reasonable, but I'll take that over him and Katrina having the same arguments all the time. I'm sad John Noble's gone, but I'm looking forward to seeing the next big bad.

I'm just said about the wasted potential of Katrina, honestly. I liked the concept of her turning dark and actually seeing how powerful she is (which they kept going on and on about for episodes without much evidence supporting it until those last couple of episodes), but alas, they spent too much time on the Crane family drama and dilly-dallying about what to do with her character. She could have been an excellent antagonist. I mean, this show being what it is, perhaps they could bring her back as a vengeful spirit or something.

But I really want the third season to get back on track with the Ichabod and Abbie relationship, and the sisterly bond between Abbie and Jenny and just the Fab Four Team kicking ass and taking names. I don't care what ridiculousness they face as long as it's them being awesome.

Huh.

New showrunner it is, which can't be too much of a bad thing? I mean, hopefully but it's really hard to pin down without seeing how it plays out. It's rough changing showrunners in general, but midway though? We'll have to see if this all pans out well.
