Game of Thrones Season 5 Trailer

As much as I don't particularly care about the show anymore, I can't help but still get ecstatic whenever I see anything involving Dany and her dragons, plus Missandei/Greyworm and Margaery. That's basically it, really. I would (and want to) be excited about Dorne and the Sand Snakes, but with the complete exclusion of Arianne Martell it has left a bitterness within that I cannot be bothered to give any fucks.

I have mixed feelings as well, but I don't believe I am at a stage where I can walk away from this show yet. There are things and storylines they to well that I don't want to miss.

I miss the days when I would be screaming in excitement over the trailers (back before s2 aired). Now I'm just like, "Please, please don't let D&D screw up too badly."

I still can't believe the exclusion of Arianne. I'm in my denial corner. I just can't believe it.

I'm with you on this, I don't care about the show nearly as much as when it first started... but I do get excited about trailers.

We'll see what happens this season. Will you watch it? I think I read you a while ago that you were thinking about not doing it.

I still can't walk away. Everything Dany and Maergery is always awesome. But I'm no where near as excited as I used to be. And considering that the next book won't be out in 2015, they are going to continue to deviate further and further.

I still don't get why they aren't including Ariane.

Also, can we talk about their choice of episodes to show in IMAX? I'd be excited about it except that they are one boring episode and the one mostly meh episode and it isn't worth paying the money for. There are so many better episodes they could have chosen.

Honestly I wouldn't mind the deviation from the books if the show was run by different people and on a different network.

I don't get why they aren't including Arianne, either. Some theories go by there already being too many characters, but it's not like the Dorne storyline is being excluded. She's just being replaced by a male character, and that's what's pissing me off. Same as how they're pretty much excluding Lady Stoneheart altogether, as well. It's a deliberate decision that makes it pretty clear how they have no regard for the women and their empowering stories of the ASOIAF universe.

The whole IMAX thing confuses me. I mean I get wanting the experience of watching select episodes of the show, but still.

Pretty much. I'm actually pretty curious on how large her dragons have gotten and how the show will manage to do that.

(And whether this is the season where we get to see her riding on the back of Drogon, maybe?)

I won't be watching the show as in full episodes as I used to. If there are scenes I'm interested in I can always go on YouTube, which always have every single character storyline featured on the show. I think someone uploaded every single Dany scene from the entire series so far.

I will also be keeping track of what is happening through Tumblr, because you simply cannot get away from it there anyway.

There is no way of justifying it, not even the typical "too many characters/storylines" excuse. Because they are doing the Dorne storyline, they're just giving her role as being the heir to Trystane, who is barely in the books at all. So no, there is absolutely no justification for replacing her entire character arc with a man. Just, ugh.

It's such a shame that the show turned into such trash, because it had so much potential at becoming bigger and better. I mean its success isn't unwarranted obviously, the first season was pretty much amazing, plus had it not been for the show I wouldn't even picked up the books in the first place. Also I knew that as it went on they would have to leave stuff out because it does get more complicated down the line with all the storylines and characters intertwining and whatnot. It's just...the decisions the show has made down the line have become more and more questionable and unbearable.

What makes me angry about them not including Arianne is that they've literally replaced her with a male character to handle her storyline. So they can't pull that "too many characters/storylines" bullshit. This was a conscious decision they made it's there is absolutely no justifying it whatsoever.

Considering that they have confirmed they are no longer following the books, I am curious as to how certain storylines I am still interested in are going to be done. But I'm only going to watch the scenes through YouTube.
