How To Get Away With Murder

I've only just seen the pilot, so please no spoilers beyond that point, but How To Get Away With Murder might be my favorite new series of this year.

Everything about this show is intriguing to me, specifically how it shows us the side of the defense attorneys as opposed to what we usually see in crime dramas and procedures, a la Law & Order. It's something I've always wondered about, actually, how criminal defense lawyers are able to do their jobs, and sleep at night, knowing that their clients may have done something morally questionable or be guilty of rather serious and heinous crimes. And this show gives us just that, and then some. Gray morality is everywhere on this show, from Annalise Keating and her cases to her students, seeing them pursue relentlessly to succeed and win to questioning the questionable things they encounter, it's quite fascinating to watch, and I'm completely captivated. Alongside with how there's this ongoing mystery plot happening that seems to be intertwined with so many things happening that we have yet to even scratch the surface of, I'm just itching to find out how everything is going to unravel.

Never mind that, on an aesthetic level, this show is just so pretty. From the cinematography to the diverse ensemble cast, which I like very, very much. Combine that with how there's going to be plenty of gay sex and romances on the show, I'm just all in.

I tried watching the pilot, I was excited for the show and had it set to DVR with all my other shows that premiered this month. But I couldn't get into it for some reason. I think I may give it another chance though. Guess I will have to give a few episodes a try, because I was really looking forward to the show from the previews.

I love crime dramas.Sounds interesting, I may have to definitely retry watching it. :)

I never knew how much I should appreciate Shondra Rhimes untill how to get away with murder. You are right on the money about how awesome everything is pieced together piece by piece.

And the cast is amazing. I dont know who is my favorite the Puppy well supposed Puppy Wes Gibbons or the Sassy Connor and his cute flustered lover Oliver.

I've got this show in my Hulu queue and of everything that has premiered these past few weeks, it seems to be the ONLY show anyone agrees on being GOOD. So I may have to watch. I'm usually not big on crime/lawyer dramas but it sounds like this show has enough to keep me watching.

Yesssssss; the show totally blew me away. I wasn't expecting it to. The promos made it seem kind of soapy, and while it's got a bit of that element to it, it's not overpowering. I love love love that we get a defendant-of-the-week kind of setup, and the grey morality is delicious.

It makes me want to go binge watch Scandal and/or Grey's Anatomy, Shonda Rhimes' other shows.

I never watched Law & Order. I watch The Good Wife, which is also about a law firm, but there's not really that morality aspect since it's a lot of different cases, not necessarily murder, and when it's murder, the clients tend to be innocent. But the show asks a lot of interesting questions anyway and is also really good in terms of female, POC and LGBT representation. I love it, maybe not as much as I love HTGAWM right now, but still a lot.

I was pleasantly surprised to see Dean Thomas as part of the main cast. I mean I knew from the previews and such, it's just rather amazing seeing all the HP actors getting some great work beyond HP, you know what I mean? And I adore his character, and I think it's cute he's been coined "The Puppy" in canon. :3 And the rest of the students are very intriguing too.

Definitely retry it. I was instantly captivated from the moment it started, it was such a bang of a way of premiering a new series so it really impressed me. It's very good, I like how it leaves you with this feeling of confusion and awe with what's going on, and I like the moral ambiguity featured. So yeah, I'd give it another go, perhaps wait until you can watch the first few episodes back to back and see how you feel about it.

Just saw the second episode, and you're right. It's pretty damn good. I hear that they're thinking about having shorter seasons than the standard 22 order, which is good, I think, as it allows them to keep up this momentum through each episode.

And yeah, the premiere did excellently in ratings. I'm so excited that a show like this is doing so well and that people are wanting more. I'm crossing my fingers that it continues to be like this.

Fun, entertaining, intriguing. I really love how it entices you with what is happening, the moral ambiguity of the characters and situations they're in leaves me questioning and wanting more. And I really like that.

I'm only hoping that this show keeps the momentum up, and so far they've been doing amazingly well.

I pretty much adore most of the students so far, well aside from Doucheface (because he is a loud, obnoxious douche, and intentionally so I believe for his character which should be interesting to see where his character goes since he's not really part of the core four that we're following through with this ongoing mystery thing, right?), and I am liking the neighbor girl Rebecca and I'm interested in her story, as well. I also really want to see more of where Connor and Oliver are going to go, and whether it will turn into an actual boyfriend thing or not.

And Viola Davis is just phenomenal in this role. Like, holy shit. She captivates and frightens you all at once with how relentless she is. It's amazing.

It's certainly the only one that has caught my eye as of late. All the other new shows either don't interest me or need some time to get their own footing. HTGAWM, on the other hand, that premiere was so solid it pretty much sold me from the opening scene. And it's not really like all the other crime dramas out there. It has some familiar elements, but having watched several crime/lawyer/law shows this is on an entirely different playing field in terms of how it's being presented. I think even if it's not your thing, it'll make you very curious.

Basically, IT IS SO GOOD WATCH IT. ;D

Like most of the new shows that have been premiering, it wasn't really on my radar until I saw everyone talking about it. And with good reason, too. It doesn't take long to see whether or not a show will spark any interest for me, and How To Get Away With Murder definitely did within the first five minutes of its premiere. The ambiguous morality, the ambition of the students, the manipulations and secrets and the ongoing plot happening throughout, it basically has all the elements that I really enjoy. And so far none overpower the other, they just kind of blend together nicely. I'm hoping that the show keeps that momentum up with the storytelling so we don't have a lull in the middle (which thankfully the show has willingly decided to have 15 ordered episodes, possibly for each season).

I'm just really love how it's going so far. :D

If you can't get to it immediately, you can wait until the season is done to binge watch it. I had intended on doing that initially, but somehow I got sucked into watching the newest episodes the day after it airs on OnDemand, simply because I see everyone posting about it and I'm itching to see what is happening.

That's kind of a good sign that I'm that intrigued with the show, since with everything else I'm willing to wait, lol.

Everyone on this show is so captivating. The cast is marvelous watching on the screen together. I know there's some discussion about the thing that occurred in the third episode, but I'm willing to wait it out and see if anything comes out from it, so to speak.

I like the sort of reluctant alliance some of them have with each other. There's a different layer to each of them and I like seeing those layers peeling away slowly with each episode. It's so delightful watching everything unfold. :D

I'm sort of disappointed that there was a lack of bisexuality acknowledgment. I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt if they plan on bringing it up in the future, but still I wish shows (and media and society in general) wouldn't ignore the possibility of someone being bisexual if they had a past relationship with someone of the same sex.

But other than that, yes. This show is incredibly intriguing and I'm pretty stoked to see where things end up for these characters. I'm liking the flashforward scenes of the impending crime these students are trying to cover up, and seeing it unravel as we piece the puzzle together with each episode.

I never got into The Good Wife, not that it doesn't look interesting but simply because I haven't had the time to watch it. However, I have heard good things about it.
