Castiel is a gay priest and devoted to repressing himself, until he meets seventeen-year-old Dean who needs help in denying his own sexuality. Inconvenient though it is, they fall in love and move from denial to platonic love to something more complex.

I just found this story today and I instantly loved it. Of course, I love anything dealing with the concept of priest!Castiel, and of course with the controversy and issues regarding questioning of sexuality, and just like with the Voice of the Turtledove this one also handles it wonderfully. There's emotion and pain and angst, so much beautiful angst. My only complaint is that I wish the ending had more elaboration, it felt too abrupt and rushed after all that happened. But overall, it's a touching and moving story.

Regarding the recent controversy that stirred up fandom (for those who don't know, it's this piece of bullshit), I think it's fair to say that such a thing is incredibly appalling and those who are behind it, whether they are serious or not, are absolutely pathetic and totally disgusting on the lowest of levels I can't even. This isn't something to be trolling around with, the organizers have been notified as well as the security for the cast and it is going to be dealt with accordingly. It is rather unbelievable something like this even came up in the first place. But fandom, being the awesome people that they are, took action against it and notified authorities of this threat and hopefully nothing will come out of it. If anything does, karma will be a bitch and severely bite them on the ass.

I wonder just how many people emailed/called them. Because I emailed them minutes after seeing it and they had already been informed. This fandom can be overwhelming sometimes, but more often than not it's overwhelming in a good way. Something like this leaks and there are dozens, if not hundreds of people jumping into action. Hell, look at Random Acts.

I know. It's amazing. I mean I just heard about this clusterfuck and then like not too long after discovering it I heard that the convention people and Cliff have been notified and will be dealing with everything. It feels awesome being part of an actively participant fandom that can use our powers for good. Especially when it's protecting the actors we all love and respect. :D

But anyway....some asshat make a little "operation mission" for people to "Kill God", by means of joining together to intentionally humiliate Misha Collins at NashCon this upcoming weekend. Like throwing water bottles at him, tripping him, booing him, throwing other kinds of shit on him, because they think that shit is funny or whatever. Basically, it's downright malicious bullshit that, joke or not, is actually a threatening kind of thing to publicize and that shit just AIN'T FUCKING COOL. LIKE AT ALL. There are the rotten apples in fandom, some which create the batshittiness of crazy ever. I don't think anything will. This is something thought out to be "funny", however it's only proving their cowardice and insensitivity and, based on the reactions and notifications, I think the protectiveness of fandom has or will scare them away from this entirely.

Yeah, I had my doubts that whoever did this was actually a true fan, because while there are definite levels of crazy amongst this fandom (sometimes even on an epic scale of embarrassing) I don't think anyone would deliberately attempt to be this malicious and petty. It makes sense that it was from 4chan, anyway. Those people thrive on being assholes on a daily basis.
