"It was a movie. It's been made. They made it. They don't need to make another one...I think it's a horrible idea. To try to do a Buffy without Joss Whedon, I mean that's, like, honestly, to be incredibly non-eloquent: that's the dumbest idea I've ever heard."

~ Sarah Michelle Gellar commenting on the Buffy reboot movie.

Her face when the guy thought that she would be okay with the reboot was absolutely priceless. She looked simply appalled and baffled at the same time. Just utterly priceless. Well, I think that about covers everyone, yes? When Buffy herself says, "no way," amongst the masses, that's a clear indicator that this reboot should not happen at all. Of course this is Hollywood, since when do they listen to us? It's all about milking the cash cow on the latest popular hype, nothing more. le sigh

Oh, did anyone else hear about SMG coming back to television with her new show, Ringer? Apparently it's been picked up by the CW.

Ha! That's great, I love how unapologetically disgusted she is by the idea.

And did I mention I LOVE that she is a booknerd!! HA!

OMG SO PERFECT!!!

Also, I am so happy Ringer was picked up, I can handle the CW. I've been following [livejournal.com profile] ringer_tv and it has a ton of news posted and the past week has been a series of will they or won't they pick it up.

You would think Joss Whedon not being involved would be enough to halt the insanity but to have Buffy herself.cosign the declaration that a buffy movie is an appaling idea just cements it.

It's just painfully true, and it's something that this business hasn't understood yet. Probably never will.

I would hope that having Buffy herself giving her straightforward honest opinion about it would definitely matter, but unfortunately being the business this is they won't respect that at all. They'll do what they want to do regardless. :/

I'm also still puzzled by the interview done a while back with the person who is supposedly wanting to do this movie saying that, "oh fans wanted a movie for a long while now, there's like a whole bunch!" That is absolutely and totally false. Nobody wants this movie, esp not the fans. There may be some that are neutral about the idea, however I've seen nobody exclaiming their excitement for anything about a reboot at all. Unless Joss is doing it with the original cast.

SHE IS MY HERO. ♥

I'm just sort of surprised that it's with the CW. Granted the network is picking itself up with having quality shows again (Nikita and The Vampire Diaries, for example) plus having SMG back on our television screens has been long overdue. :D

I love her blatant honesty here, definitely unapologetic about voicing her opinion on the matter. Made me love her even more. ♥

omg, I love that she loves books and is promoting book reading. She's so fucking awesome.

You know, I am having more and more discussions with people about reading actual BOOKS. Like, the whole Kindle/Nook thing? And she said it right there in the interview, it's a big fear of mine too, losing the actual BOOKS. I LOVE the smell of books, and the way a new one feels when you crack the cover, and the way old ones smell. Ugh, it would break my heart if the world went digital on the book front. I'd be buying underground books and shit!

Oh totally.

Like, I can understand the convenience of having things like Kindles if you are constantly traveling and it would be a pain to carry all the books you want to. However, there's something about collecting books that has always been something we've done. The smell of books, being in libraries, bookstores (my sister and her arranging and rearranging her book collection) -- the beauty of book fairs. This is something that needs to be preserved. I mean, I remember growing up my mom would read books to me and my sister before bed. It's just something tactile that I feel like should always be around, because regardless of how we progress with technology books should always be available.

Books are timeless, and should remain that way.
