I've actually wondered why Castiel didn't notice that Sam's soul wasn't inside of him. I remember distinctively last season all he had to do was touch someone and he could tell whether or not their soul was still inside of their bodies (5.14 "My Bloody Valentine" in the morgue, for example) But it looks like Castiel is performing the same kind of ritual that he did on that kid on 6.03, so it means he's trying to figure out what happened or even what did this to him.

It also looks like we have Campbells in that episode, boo. But at least we know that something is up regarding souls and whether they have theirs as well. It's something to go by.

ALSO WE HAS MOAR CYLONS THAT JOIN THE PARTY. HELLO SIMON! \O/\O/\O/

But this has me questioning with this Alpha thing. So is Alpha like, the new YED? Breeding Sam to be his "perfect animal"? Better, more efficient hunter and fighter and killer without a soul to get in the way? idek

Is it Raphael in a new vessel? I don't know, whether Raphael or Alpha I don't really care, all I know that it's Simon the Cylon from BSG. XD

So many surprise!Cas moments in previews now, it makes me happy. I think the promo people are getting smart in knowing precisely what the fans are wanting to see to get excited for the next episode. ;D

BSG is an acronym for Battlestar Galactica, which is one of my top favorite show ever. I absolutely love it. In fact I classify it as pretty much the best science fiction series ever created, in my opinion anyway. Cylons were a robotic race created as slaves for mankind then they rebelled against their human creators, and in the re-imagined series they were upgraded as humanoid models. The actor in that preview about played one of the Cylons on the show.

There have been at least over a dozen BSG alumni that have guest-starred on SPN, actually.

Looks like Cas torturing the kid was just setup so he could torture Sam, LOL. And yeah, looks like Campbells. All I have to say is that Dean better have at least CALLED Bobby once they figured out what was going on with Sam. I feel like Bobby is having to compete with Samuel for research-guy-father-figure screentime.

That's right, he has to search inside them for the marking that was left behind when his soul was taken. He can see the soul is gone(which....I guess he didn't touch Sam the last time he saw him so he couldn't feel it lol), but not who took it.

THIS. i saw the preview, and i was all dude, what. because castiel's an angel, okay, and he's got these all new awesome powers he didn't have before, so you'd think he'd know a thing or two about souls. so hoping this isn't just the writers retconning things again.

Maybe it might be explained in the next episode. I'm not holding my breath, but it feels significant for an angel to be able to tell whether someone has a soul or not, and Castiel seemed to tell last season even when he wasn't a supercharged angel.

Unless something strange happened to Sam which doesn't allow him to tell what happened, I just hope they don't end up retconning it.

I'm praying it's not retconned and that there's an actual explanation behind it. Because if Castiel knew and had been lying to Dean well, that's just fucked up because Castiel would never lie to Dean especially about his brother, especially now after everything they've gone through together. I think the only explanation I can think of is that there's no simple detection that he has no soul, which is why he has to dig deeper to understand what is wrong with him from that preview.

They really wanted to show the bondage/kinky/Castiel parts in the promo. At least they know why people are watching. (and I hope Dean is nicer to Castiel in the next episode, dammit Dean ilu and but stop being an asshole to your boyfriend....)

Poor Bobby. :( I never thought I would hate the Campbell family, because it's Mary's side. But I do. I really hate how douchey they are. Could it be they're suffering from the same soullessness Sam is? Sociopath assholes who just don't give a shit?

I'm wondering if there's a protection against allowing Sam to seem like himself until someone looks closer? Because Castiel would have noticed once seeing Sam. I hope it gets explained in the next episode....

That's my main speculation right now. I have a hard time believing that Castiel wouldn't mention any of this to Dean if he did know. I mean, look at his pained expression in the episode when Dean snapped at him. He clearly doesn't want that rift between their friendship and he truly does want to help them any way he possibly can. I do think there's some kind of cloak protecting Sam from being sensed of not having a soul.

I have theorized that paranormal entities can sense the difference, and the Goddess of Truth could sense it when Sam was lying but not directly. So if Castiel uses this new ability of his to search deeper than perhaps

I just hope the reasoning behind it isn't that 1) the writers are fucking with things to make the storyline fit the way they want (or completely forgetting things...) or 2) that Cas didn't even bother or something in the first place. :|

As for Alpha!vamp. I think at this point all the (alpha) monsters just want to make a Legion of Doom. To probably wage war against Earth and Heaven and Hell or what have you. So maybe they want Sam as their star player?

Could be. Like how YED was training Sam in a sense but more of this First Monster thing? I somehow feel like they're also taking the concept of The First Evil from BTVS, just with the alpha monsters. I honestly don't know what to think about it. Of course it's partially because I kinda skipped the two episodes that dealt with the alphas because I didn't want to deal with the Dean/Lisa/Dean mainpaining over the fake!domesticated life bullshit. But now that that's done with I can get back into it and try to figure all this out.
