Day 05 - A show you hate

Reality shows.

There's nothing I despise more than having gazillions of reality shows that clutter our screens while good quality shows are becoming so few and far between these days. It's like why? What the hell is the attraction to seeing semi-scripted "reality shows" that hardly serve much purpose? Like okay, I do have a few guilty pleasure reality-based shows, but otherwise I don't get the appeal. I want to see drama between characters in an actual storyline, not overly melodramatic people bitching at each other making fools of themselves on national television. And people wonder why so many shows with potential are being canned, it's because our society wants drown their brains with stupid reality bullshit.

Other than that there really isn't a show I outwardly hate because if I don't like a show, I don't watch it. Simple as that. *shrugs*

Well, I don't really consider those in the reality category that I'm referring to. Mainly it's things like "The Hills" or things that appear on FOX or MTV, just mindless things like those that have no plot or interesting concepts whatsoever. Because I do like watching Ghost Hunters and Destination Truth as well because it doesn't have that mindless quality to them like the others do, you know?

Although I used to be fond of Project Runway back in the day and I have an unhealthy love for Kathy Griffin's My Life on the D-List - I blame it on her unabashed calling out of stupid celebs and her delightful snark.

I watch American Idol, mostly for the lulz during the auditions. Though they do have some talent coming out of it every other season. I sometimes do watch reality shows when there's nothing on TV but otherwise, I don't really follow them. I think most of them just want the drama and are rubbish.

Yeah, I've seen some clips of AI online and I kinda love seeing Simon Cowell just be mean to the bad/lulzy auditions. Sometimes it's like "really, this person thought they could sing? lol"

But yeah, the majority of reality shows are just pure shit.

I do like seeing certain ones where they have snarky people involved, as in people calling out others stupidity. Those are always fun. I also love watching programs on stations like TruTV and such (I have a love for watching Smoking Gun Presents World's Dumbest because it has that same level of snarkage, hee)

But yeah, shows like The Hills and Big Brother and just yeah, no. Get rid of those.

I HATE reality shows. I hate the ones where it's all a bunch of people plotting against each other. And I find the various competition ones boring. Doesn't matter if it's singing or cooking or surviving, I'm not interested. And I'm insulted by The Bachelor and Wife Swap on so many levels.

Oh god, I hate Wife Swap. I caught an episode out of morbid curiosity (since the hoopla regarding that whacked out God Warrior Woman) and it's just so idiotic and revolting. I wouldn't want some strange woman replacing my mother for a short period of time. I'd be all "bitch please" the entire time.

I proudly stand by my love and support of Mythbusters. However, reality shows where there is no point or no new skill to learn can DIAF. America's Hottest Dance Crew and ANTM are my guilty pleasures. I wish I could quit Tyra but I just can't.

I FUCKING HATE REALITY TV. I WANT TO SALT AND BURN IT AND THEN STOMP ON THE ASHES WITH MY HOOKER HEELS BECAUSE SERIOUSLY...UGH. They all need to stop, JUST STOP. How many Big Brothers do we need? How many Bachelors/Bachelorettes? And don't even get me started on the E!Network giving everyone and their dog a show. I mean I have given them a try to see what's the allure but I literally feel like I am picking my brain out very slowly with a spoon. LOL. In case you can't tell, I really hate reality tv.

Hehe, no I'm right there with you! It's like continually watching reality television is eating away at your brain cells. Now granted there are certain reality-based series that aren't that bad, but the main ones are those that are just so shallow and ridiculous and it really shows how self-centered and stupid America really truly is. It's just so much second-hand embarrassment, I can't even.

Preach it, bb! Though, gotta admit I used to like Project Runway and uh, the cooking one, at least the first season. There's one in the mexican TV where fifteen guys are fighting for a single girl and I EFFING HATE IT. It's all pointless and stupid drama, and the guys have the depth of a spoon.
