I'm declaring this day of independence...
Jul. 4th, 2007 01:24 pmHappy 4th of July to all my fellow Americans! Wishing everyone a joyful, but safe, day of celebration.
My plans for today are generally just kicking back, whilst dealing with other things that need to get done, but otherwise nothing special is particularly lined up. The relatives that we usually have get-togethers on these occasions have moved away and I'm pretty sure are busy enough with their schedules, too. Since there's already been fireworks set off during the last few nights (thanks a lot, Neighborhood of Doom!), enjoying the celebration around me won't be too hard to adapt to this evening. Trouble is, it's probably going to last all night as opposed to New Years when it all happens within the 12:00 hour. I have a feeling tonight the BOOMS! are going to get even wilder.
That being said, I do believe that no matter what you believe in politically or how you feel about America and its current place right now, today is definitely a day to be celebrated. This Independence Day we should really take a step back and look at our history; without it, where would we, Americans, be today? Even though I don't always agree with certain things happening in our society and choices made by our government, I am proud to be an American.
Because I missed doing it yesterday, here's this weeks
