Good Lord, that season premiere was just....there are no particular words for this episode. Glad that I am Veronica Mars is back, there definitely are some things that call for confusion, anticipation, and most of all suspicions for what is or what are the things that are to occur throughout this season. But first, I shall review from what I've seen earlier this evening.

Veronica Mars Premiere Episode Review: Normal is the Watchword )

In this recent Yahoo!News article, it states that flight attendants of 23 airlines are outraged by the movie's portrayal of attendants, giving them a stereotype of being uncaring and unattending to passangers. Here's an excerpt from this article, which I am thoroughly astounded that they don't realize what they're actually saying:
"Should there be another 9-11, it would be critical for the cabin crew to have the support of their passengers, not the distrust that this movie may engender," Tommie Hutto-Blake, president of the Association of Professional Flight Attendants, said in a statement.

In addition to the Association of Professional Flight Attendants, the Southwest Airlines flight attendant's union (Transport Workers Union, Local 556) and the Associaton of Flight Attendants are calling for a full-on boycott of the film.
I find this completely blown directly out of porportion from the intentions of what the film is designed for, which is it's a freaking fictional movie! If these folks cannot distinguish between fact or fiction, I definitely wouldn't feel comfortable flying with them on an airline. Though, understandably, they feel this kind of generalization is somewhat inappropriate because of 9/11 and the recent events occurring in our world. But, they seem to believe that this movie would destroy their business as flight attendants, because audiences will come to realize that -- gasp! -- flight attendants everywhere are out for our children and are uncaring, unfeeling assholes! /sarcasm

This article and the situation behind it was just too narrow-minded, too defensive for the flight attendants to take a fictional movie so personally, and most of all hilarious that they would actually take it so seriously. It's a thriller, it's meant to be sadistic and uncaring and frightening. It's sort of like saying that all medical doctors will boycott watching House M.D. because the main doctor, being House himself, is a complete asshole to his patients.

The lack of rationality with this argument astounds me (even if there is subtle reasoning behind their distress), though in this world where folks criticize Harry Potter for seducing children to the Dark Side nothing surprises me anymore.
