No spoilers! No spoilers, not allowed!

Okay, there seems to be spoilers for the fifth season of Supernatural circulating already. While impressive it came out this soon, this leaves me very apprehensive and distressed since I remain spoilerfree, and fandom sometimes has zero consideration for us folks who want to remain in the dark. So I'll say this only once once: If ANYONE spoils me for anything, whether it's a rumored spoiler or confirmed, whether it's with emoticons or vague descriptions or even your own little reactions to it, I will most certainly cut a fucking bitch. Seriously. This is a no-brainer, people. I want to enjoy my fandom without someone harshing my squee, and being unintentionally (or purposefully as some fans seem to be just so fucking kind at wanting to share such info without thinking) spoiled for something of the new season is one of those downsides. If I want to look at furthering info regarding spoilers I'd do research myself, otherwise coming from someone else is a huge hell to the no.

In addition, the brilliant and wonderful [livejournal.com profile] ibroketuesday created a fantabulous community, [livejournal.com profile] spn_onthewagon, for spoilerphobics who, like me, wanna remain unspoiled.

So, spoilerfree people, where you be at? We must stick together through these rough times, yo.

I didn't spoil you, did I?! *worried* I put everything under the cut right? ^^'
I'll take that in consideration for the future anyway, I'm a spoiler-whore, but I'm always very careful when I post.

[identity profile] rogueslayer452.livejournal.com 2009-06-13 08:22 pm (UTC)(link)
No, you didn't bb. You're safe, don't worry. ;)

I have no idea what the spoiler is and don't wanna know, obviously. I'm just speaking of the overall situation of spoilers, since this happens all the time in fandom, more frequent during hiatuses and spoilers are being leaked left and right. I've only got wind of this like, last night after work so, I'm just making the PSA thing here and now for everyone to see.

[identity profile] thandie.livejournal.com 2009-06-13 08:29 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm relieved...you won't see anything outside the lj cut from me, don't worry :)

I understand your rage here, it's odd that after all these years people won't learn to put spoilers under the cuts. Good luck on remaining unspoiled! It's hard work ;)

I shall never spill you. Namely as I've seen about four episodes of season 4 thus far.

[identity profile] rogueslayer452.livejournal.com 2009-06-13 08:28 pm (UTC)(link)
That's great to hear. How are you liking the season so far?

[identity profile] juliet42.livejournal.com 2009-06-13 08:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Well I skipped around, and saw the last two, and allowed my dad to spoil me, but well. And I know I'll enjoy watching when I buy the DVDs.

[identity profile] squaringkarma.livejournal.com 2009-06-13 08:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Ditto except change "about four episodes of season 4" to "12 episodes of season 1" :P

[identity profile] callie-828.livejournal.com 2009-06-13 08:46 pm (UTC)(link)
MY THOUGHTS, THESE ARE THEM.

*clings to fellow spoilerphobes*

WE MUST STICK TOGETHER! *CLINGS*

[identity profile] dreamgazed.livejournal.com 2009-06-13 08:51 pm (UTC)(link)
I've already been spoiled a bit X___X a tad bit about casting. But other than that, I DON'T want to know until the season premiere.

[identity profile] icecoldrain.livejournal.com 2009-06-13 09:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Even though I was all up in the spoilers last season(up until the finale), I've decided to remain spoiler-free for the last season. It's funny because I used to never read spoilers, and then I got the spoilers bug when all the shows were returning from the writers strike lol.

[identity profile] icecoldrain.livejournal.com 2009-06-13 09:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Er...I just realized that I referred to the fourth and fifth season as the 'last season' lol. But you know what I mean :D

[identity profile] bridget-x-alena.livejournal.com 2009-06-13 10:02 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm neither a spoilerphobe or a spoilerwhore, but I prefer NOT to know.

*joins comm*

[identity profile] rogueslayer452.livejournal.com 2009-06-13 10:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Same here. I mean, certain things I avoid like the plague, other things I don't care either way. But fandom has a tendency to blow things way out of proportion that I just prefer to stay away from that until it is time for the actual season, y'know?

[identity profile] bridget-x-alena.livejournal.com 2009-06-13 11:08 pm (UTC)(link)
I know exactly what you mean!

I think I am even more anti-spoiler than you, and much more sensitive as to what is spoilery. I feel like a lot of people spoil me with mere spoiler cut-tags, or by the things they have left out of a cut tag.

Such as, I know you are a Castiel fan, so if you are freaking out about an episode in advance and talk about Misha in stills from that episode or say something about religion, I pretty much know what that episode is going to either be about or touch upon and what characters it's going to include, which for me is still spoilery even if I haven't been told exact details or read your post. I've given up the notion that you will have the same idea of what's spoilery as I do, or share the same time frame as to keeping under a cut what's blatantly spoilery as the season's going on. It's too much to expect, and I know we all have our own sort of posting habits and levels of participation in fandom. I want to enjoy my fandom, too, but I can only go "Argh! This is spoilery!" at people so many times before I start to feel like a bitch.

Needless to say, I don't follow the SPN fandom newsletter because I've gotten spoiled by it 894375 times -- it's the spoileringest thing EVER in the world, I don't follow links to interviews or read them, I don't watch con footage, I don't read episode reactions or meta -- I don't even post episode reactions anymore, at least hardly ever. Obviously I am as spoiler free as humanly possible, but that remains true during the whole season and not just during hiatuses.

(Also, this comment sounds like a direct confrontation over how you post. It's not! It's just, I feel like I've gone "Argh! Spoilery!" at you a couple of times before, so I wonder if we have different policies on what "spoilery" is.)

It's completely understandable, sweetie. I think everyone has different definitions and policies for what they consider something to be spoilery or not. There are certain fandoms I don't mind reading spoilers for, other ones where I stay generally away from anything regarding the plot for the entire season or for an episode or a multi-episode arc or something, but like reading everything else. Other times though, I like avoiding anything altogether. Sometimes I even avoiding interviews with mild spoilers of upcoming episodes (unless someone de-spoilers it, that is), and other times I can't help if it involves a character I love, or even don't love. Or perhaps it's because of that that I avoid them. But even with that I like getting my meta on with it, y'know? It depends on what it is, really.

I don't know, I have a hard time trying to understand my own "what is a spoiler/what isn't" at times. I mean, I don't think watching the previews for the next episode are spoilerish, to me, but to others it is. So, yeah, idk. It's all based on the individual and I think we should all be consider about that (even if in the past I may have been guilty of committing such crimes....)

And yeah, even if someone places something behind a tag their state of mood in the entry or even just emoticons or their tags can give just a hint away, and sometimes can create some anxiety for those who don't want to know anything. So that I can understand.

[identity profile] ibroketuesday.livejournal.com 2009-06-13 10:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Sorry to bump in, but THIS THIS THIS. If I know that a friend has a preference for a certain character or ship or whatever, if there's squeeing outside the cut, I'll have an idea of what it's about. I've actually been able to guess spoilery content with perfect accuracy based solely on someone posting an emoticon outside the cut. :(

[identity profile] alexwhitman25.livejournal.com 2009-06-13 10:06 pm (UTC)(link)
I saw some posts blowning up about new spoilers and I was like OH NOES! DO.NOT.WANT. It can be so hard to stay spoiler free and man, it's so early in the summer already.

[identity profile] rogueslayer452.livejournal.com 2009-06-13 10:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah. I kinda prefer if fandom didn't start posting about these spoilers, because you just know some douchenozzle is going to spoil the fun for everyone. It can be very hard trying to venture out into fandom without possibly getting unexpectedly hit with some spoiler you preferred NOT to know until the season actually started.

This is why we needs to be together, to support each other during such a hiatus. How long until S5 again?!

[identity profile] noybusiness.livejournal.com 2009-06-13 10:09 pm (UTC)(link)
How do you feel about watching a sneak peek from Battlestar Galactica: The Plan?

[identity profile] rogueslayer452.livejournal.com 2009-06-13 10:41 pm (UTC)(link)
I would say YES PLZ!!!! :DDDD

[identity profile] rogueslayer452.livejournal.com 2009-06-13 11:09 pm (UTC)(link)
That looks awesome. I can't wait when The Plan premieres this fall!

[identity profile] noybusiness.livejournal.com 2009-06-14 12:56 am (UTC)(link)
Me neither. But is it September or November? We need clear word.

You saw the initial teaser, right?

[identity profile] rogueslayer452.livejournal.com 2009-06-14 05:16 am (UTC)(link)
I heard it was November, but I honestly don't know if that is the official month/date or not.

Yes I saw the teaser. During the BSG finale is when it aired and I've been squeeful ever since.

[identity profile] ibroketuesday.livejournal.com 2009-06-13 10:46 pm (UTC)(link)
HAHA THANKS FOR THE PIMP

[identity profile] rogueslayer452.livejournal.com 2009-06-13 10:47 pm (UTC)(link)
ANY TIME BB. :DDD

[identity profile] thevinegarworks.livejournal.com 2009-06-13 11:28 pm (UTC)(link)
I hope I wasn't one of those ones that spoiled you. *puppy eyes* Though I did put everything safely behind a cut, so.

Yeah, I just about felt like blowing something up when someone in a comm that shall remain unnamed posted the S5 spoiler AND IT WASN'T UNDER A CUT. I flipped the fuck out. I hate spoilers with all the fiery passion of ten thousand hellbeasts, so yes, I am totally with you on this. If somebody spoils me, you better believe I'll be ready and willing to cut a bitch.

[identity profile] rogueslayer452.livejournal.com 2009-06-13 11:38 pm (UTC)(link)
No, you didn't. In fact I don't even know what this spoiler is.

There will be those kinds of people that will post a spoiler without thinking, whether they're doing it in the heat of the moment from excitement or whatever, but people have to understand that these are considered spoilers for a reason.

[identity profile] thevinegarworks.livejournal.com 2009-06-13 11:45 pm (UTC)(link)
I wish I could say the same. I keep hoping that if I just wish really hard and maybe clicked my heels a few times or maybe bang my head against the wall really hard, the knowledge will just fall out and I'll be magically unspoiled again. One can hope, right?

This, yes.

I'm usually 'Eh, whatever' about looking at spoilers. But this coming season is going to be all kinds of exciting. I don't want to know anything about it until it happens so none of the goodness is wasted on me. I'm really hoping I can avoid spoilers for the next few months. It's going to be hard with all the people/entertainment sites posting and stuff. *crosses fingers*

[identity profile] rogueslayer452.livejournal.com 2009-06-14 05:20 am (UTC)(link)
I was the same before season four came along, now that the mytharc has really intrigued me more than ever before and I am itching to know what is going to happen, but at the same time want to be surprised. I prefer my theories/metas than actual spoilers. It's much more fun that way instead of knowing all what's going to happen.

[identity profile] kiraesque.livejournal.com 2009-06-14 02:30 am (UTC)(link)
Oh god I want to know so bad :\ it's such a dilemma for me to look or not to look. I hope everyone lives and is happy :DDD then castiel and dean fuck.

[identity profile] rogueslayer452.livejournal.com 2009-06-14 05:18 am (UTC)(link)
then castiel and dean fuck

DAMN RIGHT THEY WILL! MANY MANY FUCKINGS BETWEEN THEM WILL ENSUE (AND HOPEFULLY MORE WALL!SLAMMING AND EYESEXING BECAUSE, DAMN)! :DDD

There's an even better trailer for The Plan on youtube now: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QYV7WeaDP_8

Awesome.

Do episode titles count?

[identity profile] rogueslayer452.livejournal.com 2009-07-11 08:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes. Episode titles count, as well.
