AND MY LESBIAN SHIP HAS SAILED.
New Warehouse 13 interview with Joanne Kelly.
Reading this, aside from squeeing over Myka and H.G. Wells, I agree with Joanne on the topic of Myka and Pete.
Personally, I never shipped them. I've always seen their relationship as something very brother-and-sisterly and nothing more than that. It was never played on a romantic level, however some see the subtext between them and you know what? That's absolutely fine. It's all quite subjective, you either see it or you don't, and I like that the show doesn't really confirm or deny anything between such characters. It just lets you ship whoever you want to without debunking anything and without taking away the chemistry and dynamic. They just let you have your fun without ruining the character relationships canonically, and that's something I've always loved about this show. In fact, I've always thought that most shows would be better off if they had more subtext than actual romance stirring with characters, you know? Sometimes subtext speaks way louder than an official hook-up, I'm just saying.

Although, Steve is gay? Yes!

And yep, Steve is gay. :) I think this establishes something else for the show. I mean, they've implied that H.G. Wells is basically bisexual, and now we have our new Warehouse agent who is a gay polygraph Buddhist. And this show just continues to get awesomer and awesomer. :D

And wow, I rambled quite a while... Basically, my point is: ITA.

But anyway, now I'm rambling. Thank you for your lovely comment. :)

Those were the two shows I was thinking of, actually (that, and Fringe) - though I can see why people ship the two ships they do, I've personally always liked the shows better when they weren't trying to hook them up. I did finally get used to Booth/Brennan, but am still trying to get used to Castle/Beckett.
The family dynamic of W13 is my favourite part about the show. I love that TV Guide kept on with the "oh, what about Pete," "oh, what about Steve" - and she just shuts them down completely. I'm a bit worried that as we go along, the show will go there with Pete and Myka (as other shows have later down the line), but I guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens!

esp. about myka and pete - i understand why people ship them, and i definitely understand steve's UST-comment in the first episode, but idk, for me they've always been siblings. i guess it's because the whole team is such a great big family, you know? artie and mrs. frederic are the parents, claudia's the little sister, and myka and pete are the older children who're already old enough to take responsibility for themselves and their little family unit.
and also, h.g. and myka? sort of starting to ship them so freaking hard. i was sort of on the fence with them at the end of season two, but now? oh man. and i love that joanne commented on that, too! this is exactly why subtext is the best - you get to choose.
