I'm finally here.

This is my first post made directly on DW, finally.

I have successfully imported all my LJ entries here, which was a pleasant surprise since I was having no luck for a while there but, miraculously, it somehow managed to go through. People really weren't kidding with how it was done by absolute chance and luck, considering how unreliable the import function is now. But everything is imported, and I'm so happy and relieved, since because of that successful transfer I will be officially posting on here going forward.

I'm going to be figuring this place out, playing with layouts, seeing what communities are good for fandom, and all of that.

So anyway, yeah, this is more or less just my own little DW introduction, even though most of you followed me from LJ already. ;)

Yeah, it wouldn't have been necessarily bad to have started completely over, but I have nearly twenty years worth of memories from LJ and it would've been devastating to lose them all (I mean, they still would be on LJ, but I didn't want to just abandon them completely unless there was another method of saving them). So yeah, in the end I'm glad that importing finally worked.

It's not ideal, no, mostly because LJ had a unique and specific kind of coding and I know that DW tried to emulate that as much as possible, but aside from a few nitpicks it's not really that bad, in my opinion. At least it doesn't look like it's trying to copy social media sites nowadays, which I appreciate.

Ah, that explains what I've been seeing when I look on my DW friendslist.

I'm sorry that the import hasn't been working for you, though. :( I want to say keep at it, but I know not everyone has the time or the patience to wait and continue sending in the request over and over again until it happens. Doing it yourself must be daunting, but you do what you gotta do.

I was in the same boat, as well, I tried for several days and it kept failing on me until it finally worked. It's very random and unpredictable. It happened late at night for me, but idk whether that's an indicator or just one of the many unpredictable windows that will be open for importing.

Just keep trying, is all I can say.

Mine made it over sometimes yesterday and I'm so thrilled that it worked. Makes me breathe a little easier. I'll need to sort out more icons here and such but I'm so glad to have a back up.
