"The French Mistake"

SAM AND DEAN ARE TRANSPORTED TO AN ALTERNATE REALITY — Raphael (guest star Lanette Ware) launches an attack on Castiel (Misha Collins) and his allies, sending a particularly frightening angelic hitman (guest star Carlos Sanz) after Balthazar (guest star Sebastian Roche), Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles)... In an effort to protect the brothers, Balthazar sends them to an alternate universe where they are the stars of a TV show called "Supernatural" and they are actors named "Jensen Ackles" and "Jared Padalecki." The brothers are confused when Castiel appears to be a tweet-happy actor named Misha Collins and Sam is married to Ruby (Genevieve Cortese). Charles Beeson directed the episode written by Ben Edlund.

NO NEED FOR WORRYING IF THINGS ARE GONNA BE RUINED AND SCREWED OVER BECAUSE BEN EDLUND WROTE THIS EPISODE, SO ALL WILL BE PERFECTLY FUCKING AWESOME. Never mind that this is precisely the kind of setup we've kind of speculated when the meta-episode was first talked about? With Balthazar hiding the Winchesters from this particular angelic hitman after them. Which is, of course, typical Edlund-style, mixing the wacky crazy with interesting plotty things like the angel civil war and Raphael targeting Castiel and all of that. IT IS JUST SO PERFECT READING THIS DESCRIPTION BECAUSE IT HAS EVERYTHING I COULD HAVE HOPED FOR AND LO AND BEHOLD, EDLUND GIVES IT TO US. <3 <3 <3 <3

I AM SUPER EXCITED NOW FOR THIS EPISODE. NO LONGER BITING NAILS IN POTENTIAL SECOND-EMBARRASSMENT. I WANT THIS EPISODE NOW BECAUSE I AM SO TOTALLY GOING TO BE SQUEEING AND LAUGHING AND ANXIOUS TO SEE WHERE THIS HEADS BECAUSE YAY! BALANCING OUT THE CRACK WITH THE DRAMA AND MYSTERY. \O/

While the show returns tonight I don't think I'll be watching, though I have legitimate reasons for it. The main reason is because I'll be asleep when it comes on, since my sleeping schedule finally has returned back to normal hours I'm trying to stay that way, especially with this new job opportunity I have that requires a lot of energy on my part. I have to get solid hours of sleep otherwise I'll be too exhausted the next day, and I don't want to go back to my unusual sleeping patterns which leads me not being myself and I've desperately want to avoid that. The other reason is because...I simply don't want to. I'm not enthusiastic about the show as I once had been so, missing tonight's episode isn't a huge loss on my part.

Thankfully I have you all who see the episode before I do, so I'll be reading reaction posts before I turn in for the night. ;)

BESIDES IF THIS EPISODE DOES NOT INCLUDE ACTUAL MOTHERFUCKING DRAGONS WITH HUGEASS WINGS THAT SPIT OUT FIRE A LA HARRY POTTER STYLE I WILL BE SUPER ANNOYED AND CALL FOUL. JUST SAYING.

I just want to see what Misha says about Jared and Jensen to Dean and Sam. And if they kill him? Hmmm...

I was definitely hoping that Ben was going to write it. He knows how to write Castiel correctly. And I want to see what he does to Misha. Oh my gosh it will be awesome.

Edlund is the only writer I trust on this show to write Castiel properly anymore, which is kind of a sad thing to admit but there ya go. Anyway, it makes me super duper happy that not only is he going to be writing for Castiel but also MISHA as well! Just the entire thing is kind of a mindtrip, in a way. XD

I think a lot of people are worrying that they're going to use interesting camera angles and fire effects to avoid spending money on a dragon. I want a dragon :(

Oh seriously? I didn't even look up the name of who was playing Raphael this time. That is quite interesting. I'm not entirely sure how that's gonna work actress-wise, since this show is definitely a hit-or-miss with their actresses for sure, however it's Raphael. I'm betting they're going be hardcore either way with their spite. At least I'm hoping so. *crosses fingers*

I've been hearing wariness from others that this new episode will have Dean and Castiel at ends with each other while Sam and Castiel will be getting closer, by means of a possibly awkward hug or something. I'm fearing Sera Gamble wants that instead of a Dean/Castiel hug because she doesn't favor Dean, but I honestly don't think that any Sam and Castiel interaction will ever be as profound or amazingly awesome as Dean/Castiel. idk :/

However, the description sort of stepped on my embarrassment squick button and kept its foot there for a while. I think I might skip this one and just enjoy watching the fallout. :/

Awwww, well. I figured there's still some people wary about the second-hand embarrassment, however reading this description kind of eases that a bit because it's all part of an elaborate plan on saving the Winchesters from evil angels. Plus Balthazar, and Misha PLAYING HIMSELF! \O/ I CANNOT WAIT!

It's a good thing you're behind on the sixth season. Nothing really happened thus far anyway, so I think you're good with starting from here because really we kinda wanna forget everything else that happened in the first half, lol.

That is going to be amazing, though given that this week has dragons and some awesome Dean/Cas interactions I'm pretty stoked for this week too.

I really should sleep as I'm behind on sleep and need to get up tomorrow morning. But I guess I'll just take a nap. I need to watch this episode live.

I think the only Dean/Castiel interaction is going to be the one we saw in the preview clip. Because Castiel is only in a small bit in tonight's episode from what I've read. But anyway, I'll read up on how the episode is. Because I still cannot get over the lulz of the "dragons kidnapping virgins" bit. XD

That was pretty much my raction when I read the episode description, just with a little bit more "OMG! Balthazar!" thrown in. ;)

It makes me wonder, is Balthazar on their side now? Or we'll be seeing how that happens between now and when the episode airs? Because from where I'm standing Balthazar is pretty much on his own side, but something might occur that makes him rethink his position. Hmmmm, interesting.....

I'm not sure if he's on their side excatly, or if he's just doing it for Cas. But either way, there has to be some explanation, because last time we saw him, he still called himself the angel who wants to kill them.

DEAN AND CASTIEL DEFINITELY NEED TO FUCKING HUG ALREADY. IT'S FUCKING TIME. JUST DO IT. DO IT! WE PROPHESIZE SO FUCKING HARD FOR THIS, DAMMIT.

And I totally agree regarding the Balthazar versus Gabriel debate going on. Like, okay, at first was was kind of like "eh" regarding that that's how Balthazar chooses to save and protect them because it does seem very Gabriel-ish and it made us get our hopes up based on the promise about them bringing Gabriel back into the show somehow. HOWEVER, they are totally two different characters. Gabriel left Heaven because he couldn't handle the family feud and wanted to protect himself by leaving until it was all over. Balthazar left Heaven because he wanted to, he stole some weapons from Heaven as well so he has ulterior motives for being on Earth (with his bargaining with humans and whatnot). Totally different motives there.

But really, angels can manipulate so many things through time and alternate universes. So even if it does seem like a Gabriel-esque thing to do, Balthy and Gabe are totally different characters and we shouldn't see it as such.

I'm so torn because on the one hand: MISHA! EDLUND! BALTHAZAR!!! On the other: the potential for embarrassment squick is so high. And I'm a little sad that my Novaks theory was wrong, lol.

I'm undecided about Balthazar helping them. How? Since when? And helping them by putting them in an alternate TV universe? ~~Stop stealing tricks from Gabriel, and I'd like you better.~~

OTOH, FEMALE!RAPHAEL. FEMALE ARCHANGEL. IT'S ABOUT TIME, WE NEED MORE GENDER SWITCHING ANGELS.

I'm hoping there's an explanation to follow, either before or after the episode because as far as we've seen, Balthazar is mostly out for himself. Either he's joining them to help himself out, or there's something else at work here. I'm just hoping it goes somewhere. Though I do agree that the whole AU seems rather....closely resembling Gabriel's ideas. I love both Gabriel and Balthazar as mentioned before but, idk.

I'm wondering how the female!version of Raphael is going to work. I view angels as androgynous and don't care about the gender their human vessel is since it doesn't affect them or this mission (ex. Castiel being able to go from Jimmy to his daughter Claire) so I'm hoping this solidifies that notion about angels can be in any human vessel regardless, as long as it fits with the particular bloodline they are connected to.

But it bothers me that there is an upcoming new angel named "Rachel". Angelical name fail to the max..... :|

Ditto. Couldn't they have found any other name but Rachel?

Seriously, out of all the amazingly fierce angelical names there are, why choose one that is utterly human and plain? It's like they're deliberately trying to make her mundane and dull, because that's how they treat most of the females on the show. :/
