I want it to be cooler weather again....
++ One of the things I hate about warm weather is how irritable it makes me. I was just reminded of this yesterday when I basically had a little freakout over nothing, and it was a combination of other things happening but the warm air didn't help matters which escalated the way I was feeling. :/
++ The Last Of Us was renewed for a third season ahead of the season two premiere. Well, obviously. I would sure hope so. We knew months ago that the second game was going to be split into two (or possible more?) seasons, and it would be foolish to just not renew something that is basically going to be incomplete as a story itself. It reminds me of the situation with Dune with them splitting it into two movies even though the second one wasn't filmed yet after the first was released, a decision of studios and whatever else creatives have that I still don't understand. Regardless, it's just good that there's further confirmation with TLOU.
++ NaNoWriMo is officially shutting down for good. This has been a long time coming considering the numerous controversies and scandals over the years, with their whole ordeal surrounding genAI being the final nail in the coffin.
Funnily, it took until quite recently to realize that NaNoWriMo was an actual non-profit organization. I had long thought that it was simply just a self-induced prompt that writers challenged themselves and promoted it annually to write and complete a story in a month. It wasn't until some of the issues that arose not too long ago was being spread around that I finally understood, lol. I'm hoping that this doesn't discourage people from continuing challenging themselves with their writing, since I know a lot got their starts and were pushed to finish their projects because of NaNoWriMo. They can just continue on without the organization.

Everyone acts like it's already summer and opening windows and doors at the same time, creating environments so windy that my sinusitis acts up immediately and I'm sneezing all the time with the allergies. But hey, it's warm! Sun! You should smile! *grunt*
I also thought Nanowrimo was a challenge in the same way I thought inktober also was. And just like that one, I think writers will continue doing it on their own.

Very glad about The Last of Us. I haven't played the game but I understand they've split the second game into season 2 and 3 so if they didn't get a third season it would be very disappointing. I really liked season one so I'll watch Season 2 once I can download it.
I was glad when I saw the NaNoWriMo news. I'm also sad that I'm glad. They ran it into the ground in such a disappointing way and I'd rather it be gone than be a space where predators feel safe or where they sell out to AI and then insult everyone who doesn't like that. I know Toronto has made their own ToWriMO kind of event in November so I thin the spirit of the writing will live on.

There were early critic reviews for season two that said it felt "incomplete" and I was like, well duh, that's only half the story.
And yeah, while it is an end of an era for many it's definitely a good thing they're shutting down. Good riddance, really. Seeing that others have created their own versions of the challenge is great, since it does keep the spirit of it without the other bullshit attached.

Did those critics just not read any info about season 2? I swear some people are just so dumb about things sometimes.
I've heard other cities are doing their own WriMo style events still so the good spirit of the events carries on and maybe someday we'll get a centralized site again, but hopefully not one that goes so far off the rails.

Thank you!! I also hate warmer weather and it's always a bit mind-boggling when everyone around me goes, "Ooh, it's finally warming up again!" And I just want it to Stay Winter a little longer. We did get a break this week, which not only cooled the weather down (temporarily), but also took down the pollen levels to a reasonable degree. Yay less sneezing!
You are not the only one who assumed that about NaNoWriMo. I don't think I realized it was an official organization until I joined a writers forum and everyone was sharing their screen names and tracking stats. I don't think people will stop challenging themselves, though--there are enough writers out there who just independently do it anyway.

Yeah, seeing writers just being all "fuck this" and doing their own thing by challenging themselves with their writing projects is how it should be. You don't need to be beholden to an organization to achieve that goal of finishing a story.

See, I do mind the sun as well as the heat, and the increased light drains my energy and wipes me out. I know seasonal depression is a thing, but it's always referred to as a winter thing. For me, it is a summer thing. Spring is okay, but in a couple months I'll be clawing at the walls.

The past few years I've seen people do their own writing month for Nov. without using NaNoWriMo.

Oh, that's good! Obviously that's what I thought people had been doing initially, but knowing that people haven't been happy with the NaNoWriMo organization for a while and just went off to do their own version is a great way to spite them while still doing a challenge that pushes them to achieve what they want.

Same lol. I guess I just thought it was a group who ran a writing thing. I sort of thought of people saying "I'm doing Nano" the same as people saying "I'm doing a Big Bang."
