Humanity's children will remember this....

You know, when I thought about the moral and ethical discussions we would be having about AI, I always thought it would be about actual artificial intelligence, as in the sentience and individual autonomy of robots and machines, not human controlled programs that operate underneath generated algorithms. As I've seen others state, what most are referring to as "AI" is really just "artificial generators". Otherwise, it's just confusing and wildly misleading.

Do not slander our future machine overlords like this, please.

The real misnomer about the term "artificial intelligence" is that once a system reaches intelligence, it is no longer artificial.

I'M SAYING! These are not our TRUE robot overlords. These imposters are not worth anyone's time. (However, I have put all my entire Ao3 fics on 'registered users only' to avoid the effing data scrapers, because that's a thing we have to worry about now. Booo!)

I used to write articles about early 'AI', machine learning and robotics in general back in 2015-2017, and then I fell out of the loop, and now I'm both confused and fascinated to suddenly see where this situation ended up. I'm not as opposed to it as many people seem to be (to me the only problem is the unethical use of other people's art/writing without permission and monetary compensation, not the mere fact that these things can be artificially created), but it's still a pretty weird place to end up in.
