That three subjects meme that was floating around.
Reply here and I'll give you 3 subjects I don't think you know or care much about. Then you talk about those subjects in your journal. It's interesting to see who knows what about what?

Nine Inch Nails → I do, in fact, listen and enjoy their music. I remember getting introduced to their music through fanvids, if you can believe it, and going to look for the specific songs used which led me to more of their discography. Some of my favorite songs of theirs include "Kinda I Want To", "Closer", "Wish", and "Just Like You Imagined".
Hiking → I've never actually done one properly, to be perfectly honest. I may have done a mini-hike once during a school field trip, but otherwise no. I don't really have much of a desire to, either. I'm not really an outdoorsy kind of person. I like the concept of it, being able to walk around certain terrains and being surrounded by nature and all of that, but I don't think I'm the kind of person to do it. But who knows? Maybe someday I'll change my mind, but it'll have to be one of those really planned things in a controlled environment.
Diabetes → I don't have it and I don't think anyone in my family has it (that I know of at the top of my head), but it does scare me. As someone who has been experiencing some health issues lately anything health-related scares me.

Rock climbing → I think I attempted rock climbing in the past, it was an indoor rock climbing and only the shorter one, but I do recall there being a time when I tried it. It looks interesting and it's something I've contemplated possibly trying again, the indoor rock climbing not so much for doing so outdoors. When it comes to professional rock climbing, I'd never do it myself but I'm in awe of those who are skilled enough to do it. I've seen the videos and things and, aside from how scary it is, it's also very impressive what the human body can do with the right amount of training and practice.
Shotgun → I'm assuming this is about the firearm, which in that case I've never held or been near one. Honestly, I have pretty strong feelings about guns in general, as in I'm for gun control and want a better regulated system.
Hot plates → I have never used them personally, but I do think that they're useful for many people. I know that a lot of college students use them, which is mostly where I've heard most about it.

Dreams, do they mean anything? → I believe that dreams are just our subconscious creating a story while we're asleep, since while we're awake we can consciously control where are thoughts are, but when asleep our brains never stop working and so it takes things already on our minds to create scenarios. It's why many dreams have so many different things happening but it still is connected to each other. Do I think they mean anything aside from that? I do think that sometimes we influence what are dreams will be like, such as if you're worried about something your subconscious will create a scenario surrounded by that particular worry. Otherwise, in regards to inexplicable things about dreams such as paranormal or spiritual visits and the like, that is unknown. I think it's all based on the individual and what they believe it is. But really, our brains are incredibly complex so anything is possible.
Art → I really love and appreciate art of all forms. I'm in awe of people who just create things, y'know? Just the levels of talent, whether it's drawing, painting, sculpting, crafting, theater, etc. I'm also artistic in certain ways, though I don't consider myself an "artist" my any means some have said that I am. I did take some art classes during school, once in high school (which was a standard art class) and once in community college. While I appreciated the former, I disliked the latter. I don't know, there was something about it that made me lose all interest in drawing for a while. I did quit the class after some time because I was just not interested at all with what they were doing. But overall, art -- however you create it -- is incredibly valid and we need to support it more (a.k.a. stop taking away funding from art/performing arts in schools).
Camping → The only thing I've ever done that relates to this is an elementary school field trip where we spent a week at an educational recreational park (treating it like a "summer camp" kind of experience, but with learning outdoorsy things and we slept in cabins and all of that) and pretend camping at home when I was younger, but as far as traditional aspects of camping I've never actually done it. Like I mentioned before, I'm not an outdoorsy kind of person, but the concept of camping is something I've been curious about. I kind of blame things like Instagram for doing the aesthetics aspect of it.

Frozen ice cream → I love ice cream. Over the years though I've gotten a little sensitive to certain brands of ice cream, most likely due to how much dairy they put into it. But there are still some that I like and I have no problem with. Cookies n Cream from Baskin Robbins is my all-time favorite, and I prefer that over anything else tbh. Aside from that, my other favorite flavors are chocolate (especially chocolate fudge) and vanilla (regular or vanilla bean).
Chick flicks → To be honest, I despise the term "chick flick" because it mostly just describes any movie that have a female protagonist and/or prominently features women and there is emotions in it, which imho is very sexist since there's a lot of movies of all genres that are placed in that category. There's been a lot of debates surrounding this though, so I'm not going to get too into that, but for the most part I like a lot of movies. Many of them feature women, and many feature an emotional coming-of-age or character journey, and yes, some of them are romantic comedies. If a story is good, I'll like it, regardless of whether it fits into that category or not.
Urban legends → I love them, especially the creepier ones. I'm someone who loves reading about all types of urban legends and folklore, including creepypastas. I like not just US-specific ones, but urban legends from all cultures, which I find absolutely fascinating. Also, I also love the movie Urban Legend (and to a lesser extent the sequel, Urban Legends: Final Cut). Just wanted to add that because it is relevant to the topic.

Something I read the other day: "Hiking is the worst part about dating a white guy." LOL
Would you please assign me some subjects? I'd like to try this meme.

Girl, you know me so well. I know nothing about any of those topics, BUT I'MA TRY.

I have a friend who is a hardcore NIN fan, has been since high school. Everything I know about them, I learned from his ramblings, though I've never listened to much of the music beyond the radio singles.
If you want to throw three subjects at me, I'll take 'em :)
no subject
I'm not a hardcore fan or anything, but I'm not going to change the station or skip a song whenever they come on, y'know? I enjoy their music and honestly that's all I need sometimes. If I like what I hear, it's all good. And NIN is on that list of artists I like listening to. :)
Here are your subjects:
- Renaissance faire
- Soap operas
- Current Top 40 music

That's how I am. I've done what I call hiking, but it's more like Hiking Lite. Liking, even. ;) I actually love the outdoors, but at a more casual pace, you know?
I'm in awe of people who just create things, y'know?
Yes. I can barely draw past stick figures, so sometimes when I go to art galleries, my awe is just as much in the fact that someone painted all of "that" (whatever "that" is) as I am what they were depicting.

That's actually a really good point, and I also think that they're often considered "low brow", which is really quite unfair given all that implies. Why don't we call films with mostly male protags bro flicks? Or consider them low brow? It's just... problematic, even when we accuse them of being sexist. (Which is sometimes true, but not always.)
→ I love them, especially the creepier ones. I'm someone who loves reading about all types of urban legends and folklore,
Me too! Although not as much as I used to. I went through an urban legend phase that I sort of dwindled out of, but now I kinda want to get back into it.
You can ask me things!

Yeah, sometimes you just have to marvel how human beings can be that talented and skilled, sometimes naturally so.
I also think that they're often considered "low brow", which is really quite unfair given all that implies.
Seriously, it's just a demeaning term used to make it seem "inferior" to other movies. It's an unfortunate trend with anything that girls end up liking or that has something that mostly features women in general, that it's constantly being knocked down and mocked and belittled as "mindless fluff". :/
Here are your subjects:
- Steampunk
- Dungeons & Dragons
- Video games

That's exactly what I think dreams are/do. Sometimes they also just rehash something we did shortly before we go to sleep. A couple of weeks ago I read something about car care (someone wanted to keep a car for his kid who was ten or twelve after inheriting it and asked how to store it best so it's still in good shape) on Reddit shortly before going to sleep. That night I dreamt about doing exactly that lol
The cinema I usually go to has a women's night and a men's night. The admission prices include a glass of sparkling wine and a bottle of beer respectively. Guess what kind of movies are shown? They do include on the website that men are also welcome (there's no "movie for men" this week)...

Yep, this is why many people avoid watching something scary before going to bed in fear of getting nightmares. A lot of times, we don't know what our subconscious is going to conjure up when we're sleeping. Sometimes it can be related to something that was recently on your mind, or it can draw from another thing way long ago. Recurring dreams fascinate me as well, to be honest.

See, this is what irritates me with the gender stereotyping in all forms. It's just insulting to everyone. I mean, at least they claim that men are invited to "women's night", but still.
no subject
I was hesitant to watch Castle Rock at night, but that didn't really impact my dreams at all. Dreams are definitely an interesting subject!
Them inviting men as well just sounds like an attempt to make it less insulting. They might as well just call the men's night "Action Movie Night" because that's what they show every week anyway.

And yay for another person who listens to Nine Inch Nails. :3
May I ask you for the reason, that you are for gun use? I am just curious. :>
no subject
I'm not for gun use, I'm for gun control. I don't believe civilians should own any firearm unless they are officially in a profession/hobby that requires it, and even then it should be regulated with licenses that has regular checkups and done with supervision. I also don't believe the police should have/use guns and that they should practice other non-lethal methods of stopping and restraining potential suspects (just better methods all around, really, the entire system is fucked and it needs a hard reset). Living in the US, gun violence has been a huge issue for a long time and it's become more and more rampant considering that anyone can buy firearms of any kind without a license is terrifying. It's why I firmly believe in gun control, that we do need a better regulated system that has harder restrictions and tighter rules/laws.

Me too, very much! There is so much talent out there and wonderful art pieces of all forms. I’ve always wished I could draw/paint, but I have zero talent there.
