Life behind the television screen.
++ A brand new trailer for The Carmilla Movie was just released, which actual dialogue and some plotty things, and I'm now more hyped. Give it to me now!
++ I've been delving into Black Butler recently. I became intrigued when I saw, interestingly enough, a beautiful piece of jewelry at a store that was merchandise from the show. Curiosity got the better of me and I researched on what it was, which then I went down the rabbit hole of reading up on the entirety of the series, and, well, here I am today. I've researched both the anime and manga enough to know that this is a series that fits right up my alley, just based on the premise and descriptions of the main characters alone, and the more I read up on it the more fascinated I became. I've only seen clips online, however I do plan on watching the first season in its entirety and see where it goes from there, and possibly get my hands on the manga itself. And yes, I am definitely on the Ciel/Sebastian shipping wagon. As a sidenote to that, I almost saw the voice actors who did the English dubs for Ciel and Sebastian at an anime convention recently, but I unfortunately couldn't make it to their panel in time.
++ In related news regarding anime, I've also been curious about Voltron: Legendary Defender that's been on Netflix. Mostly because of the character of Shiro, because apparently I have a thing for characters with undercuts and white shock hair and who are incredibly honorable and good leaders dealing with PTSD. That's pretty much the reason I want to watch, honestly.
++ Grantchester is another show I've recently discovered. I've seen it around before but it didn't really grab my attention aside from there being a hot priest who apparently helps solve crimes. But there's definitely more to it than just that, obviously. The main character is a vicar who suffers PTSD from WWII, has a complicated relationship with one of his childhood friends who he has feelings for, and is overall a good person who tries his best to help others. I'm making my way through the first season at the moment, and will probably have more to say once I've finished. I know the show currently has three seasons so far, so we'll see how this goes.
++ Fall season has started, and there are many shows that are premiering or returning. Aside from some returning shows (Bull, Legends of Tomorrow, Agents of Shield, Elementary, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, The Good Place, Berlin Station, Strangers Things, and probably a few others I'm forgetting), I have to say that the fall schedule for new shows has been incredibly underwhelming. Besides The Gifted, not much has captured my interest. And even with my returning shows, those are incredibly few in numbers at the moment. I'm finding that most of my shows now reside during the summer more these days, which isn't necessarily bad. Admittedly, it's kind of a relief knowing that I'll have more time now to finally catch up on the shows that I've fallen behind on.

Black Butler is such an interesting franchise (in the best way possible). I met the VA for Sebastian a few years ago at a convention (not Ciel yet - eventually!!!), and he is such a sweetheart; eloquent, too!
Yeah, Shiro is pretty much (one of) the only reason I watch Voltron.
I've gotten in the habit of watching Granchester with my grandma; I've been watching it out of order, so I have to catch up on the earlier seasons at some point. My grandma always makes the comments of how grim some of the little English towns are XD

And yes, underwhelming is putting it mildly. I mean at the point I'm basically waiting for Elementary to come back and dearly wish since early last year that The CW had found it in their hearts to uncancel Reign for actually season 4 had been rather good. But no. So... oh well.

It's always a guessing game when it comes to new shows premiering during fall season, but it's such a hit or miss and this year I've just been not feeling anything that has been announced. Though to be fair that's been happening a lot lately, and it's usually after a show has aired its first season that, if it looks like it's actually interesting and people are saying that it's good, then perhaps I'll give it a try. But at the moment, nothing much sticks out. Most of my returning shows are going to be later in the year, some mid-season, so now it's just a standstill until they appear.

I don't know, there hasn't been much in recent years – at least not where the main TV season was concerned. And due to the surgery I had earlier this year I've worked through most of the things I had saved for a rainy day.

I always wanted to 'dive deeper' in the whole manga-scene but they are so horrible expensive here in Germany, so I only have some few manga-series.
I know, you can read a lot at the Internet and I really want to do that - but damn, the day hasn't enough hours. ^^

Voltron s1 was really enjoyable. I haven't gotten around to s2 yet. And Shiro is awesome.
I really like Granchester (of course I would: hot British priest who solves mysteries & has a gorgeous black lab) and watch the seasons when they hit pbs.
New fall tv is pretty meh so far for me too. I like The Brave well enough, but really I wouldn't keep up w/ it except I tend to do yoga w/ mom at 10 when it's on. The Orville is okay, but I'm super casual on keeping track of it. The Gifted is actually really good so far. I'm kinda surprised.

After watching just a few episodes of Grantchester we're basically considering on just getting the DVDs of all the existing seasons so far.

ALSO it'd be awesome if you got into Voltron! It's a pretty entertaining show and Shiro is a beautiful, beautiful character and I love him to bits. Never ever delve into the fandom though, it's a cesspool of bullshit. (When are fandoms NOT cesspools for bullshit though...)

(I also heard that there was a Japanese live action film, but nobody talks about it because it's apparently very, very bad, lol.)

lol, I had to unfollow someone on Tumblr recently because all they did was rant about the show after the third season dropped on Netflix. And I was like, I don't need this negativity just as I was getting myself intrigued by the show. I thankfully haven't seen much of the fandom other than knowing it exists. I've only looked at the fanart and gifsets and not much else with fan opinions. Sometimes it's better that way when it comes to discovering something new.

YES the second season has pretty much nothing to do with the overall story so honestly, you're better off with the first one and the manga. And Jpn live actions are so hit and miss: they're either very accurate and good or just so painfully bad (cough cough attack on titan live action cough- what the everloving f was that)
Do tell us your thoughts if you end up watching Voltron! It's kinda painful to watch it as an adult at times tbh: there's potential for deeper storylines but since it's mainly geared towards kids.. it just doesn't happen. But oh well. There's always fic! :D
