++ It's that time of the year for show renewal/cancellation announcements. American Gods was renewed for a second season after only two episodes! That is absolutely outstanding and wonderful! Elementary was also renewed, it took some time for it to be announced but I'm utterly relieved nonetheless. Agents of Shield and Brooklyn Nine-Nine both have renewals for their respective fifth seasons. I'm sad about Powerless though, it was a cute little show that deserved more attention. And while I haven't even bothered with Once Upon A Time since the first season, just hearing the kerfuffle surrounding their recent announcements has been quite a doozy.
++ Sleepy Hollow has finally been cancelled! I know it's a bit odd to be celebrating the axing of a show, but let's be real, this one is probably the most deserving for obvious reasons.
This show started out with so much potential and promise, it was silly and ridiculous but honestly fun and entertaining, with a diverse cast and the relationship and equal partnership between Ichabod and Abbie being one of the biggest draws of the show. But after the first season the original showrunner/writers left and someone else came in and completely ruined everything that made the first season good. From disrespecting the fanbase and the story/characters to mistreating the actors, especially what they did to Nicole Beharie, the show dug its own grave. This is one of those few examples of shows that started off strong but it all went downhill so quickly. Needless to say, many predicted this cancellation from a mile away, it's just a shame that it didn't happen much sooner. Good riddance, either way.
As a sidenote though, it's genuinely disappointing that we'll never actually get to see Abbie/Ichabod become canon as they should've been, something else the show tried to sideline. I do hope that Nicole and Tom get to work together again in the future, their chemistry was just off the charts and they clearly adored working with each other.

The only time I was excited about "Once Upon A Time" was when I was hoping that Hook/Aurora would become a thing in season 2. The actors had great chemistry (hope they get to work together on another project someday) and I like the whole princess/pirate idea – it reminded me of Han/Leia on "Star Wars". :) But well, that didn't work out and the show turned around and changed course too many times. It was hard to stay interested. At least that was how it was for me.
I never watched "Sleepy Hollow" – just not my thing but I read how the lead actress was mistreated by the showrunners and the network, apparently even had to ask to have her twitter linked to the twitter account of the show (I don't know how that works as I don't use twitter but yeah)... it sounded awful. :(

Have you seen The Tudors? They shared a few scenes (https://youtu.be/UhTm8spPYg4) during the third season, short but sweet. It's definitely why some shipped Aurora/Hook because the two already had amazing chemistry from before.
I initially liked the concept of OUAT when it first premiered, it was new and interesting, but it was clear that after the first season they didn't really have a plan. They just couldn't maintain the momentum they started with. But I think my biggest problem was how they wasted so many characters and their potential. They introduced so many of them, only for them to be sidelined or forgotten in favor of the mains, who also got screwed over by the writing. Also they seemed the recycle the same thing over and over again, and it got old fast. I didn't like the direction it was taking so I quit very early on before things got super weird.
They also didn't invite her to the DVD commentaries during one of the seasons, despite her being the main lead. They basically treated her like shit post-S1. It was honestly horrible. They also blatantly fired Orlando Jones after S2, despite the fact his character played an important role. Essentially whoever took over the show after the first season wanted to make the show about the White Male Lead instead of the diverse ensemble cast it started with. It was quite racist, so I'm glad that it got cancelled. Even though it should've been much sooner.

Hah, yes. I've watched "The Tudors" being a bit obsessed with period drama and all. But that's definitely not why I shipped Hook/Aurora. Mary/Philip couldn't have been any more different as people. Though I agree their scenes were very sweet. Colin was Sarah's first on-screen kiss.
And yes, that's my main problem with "Once Upon A Time" too – they brought on more and more characters and forgot about old ones, they started plotlines then axed them for something more shiny until everything was such an inconsitent mess. I sat through season 2 – I liked the first half, the second was kind of meh but I still really liked Cora. Then tried to watch season 3 but quit when they killed off Henry's father. Not because I felt very strongly about the ship but because I felt this is totally contrary to the premise of the show which was to bring the happy endings back. That's when I realised – yeah, could have been a good show but they blew it. They have no concept. Sad. Next.
It's really terrible when new showrunners come on board and "fix" something that wasn't broken and make your favourite show into something completely different. I thought for a second about at least trying one epsiode since I remember Janina Gavankar fondly from "The L Word" but yeah... then I didn't for reasons mentioned above.

As for what happened with SW, I'm not entirely sure the exact reasoning or the circumstances which led to such a decision. Regardless, the show got fucked over before it even had a chance to shine, and it sucks.

I'm about to watch the season finale of OUAT but I think for me it will be a series finale! The show jumped the shark so many times now...

I remember when OUAT first premiered and I was so enthralled with the concept, but then after the first season it just went in an entirely different direction than I was expecting, and I was already watching too many things at that time so I dropped it (hoping that somehow I would catch up). But hearing how the show continued on since then, with them jumping the shark ten times over, I'm kinda glad I didn't. It's honestly astonishing that they've continued on for this long.

I am curious too. I have to say i really enjoyed the spin off they did with alice in wonderland. It's clear they have the potential to write a decent show, maybe i enjoyed Alice so much because it was short. Could be the issue with ouat is that there's too many episodes.

Ouat is dead to me...it has been for a while.
I am so glad Sleepy Hollow is gone, despite Tom Mison is a nice person, I wanted vengence for the way they treated my daughter ABBIE!

I pretty much stopped watching OUAT after the first season. I tried a little of S2 but realized that it just wasn't going in the direction I originally thought it was and it didn't interest me, so I dropped it. Hearing what has happened since then makes me kinda glad I did because it sounds like an utter trainwreck.
Like, I'm so beyond bitter and angry with how they treated Abbie/Nicole. She deserved better than that.

There's only been three episodes so far (out of eight this season), so I think you'll be able to catch up just fine. :)

I'm really happy about B99. It's rare for a comedy show to still have the same quality in season 4!
Sleepy Hollow tanked so hard in season 2,it should have been cancelled back then maybe but DEFINITELY after the third season when Abbie died!

Brooklyn Nine-Nine is one of those rare gems when it comes to comedies. I cannot believe we are blessed with such a genuinely hilarious comedy show that doesn't use offensive jokes for a cheap laugh and still maintains its quality through the brilliance of the writers and the performances of the actors. I mean, their comedic timing is always on point. ♥
It's still unbelievable that they get a fourth season after all of that bullshit. And they knew it was bullshit, they just didn't care.

Ugh, OUAT. I haven't watched in years because they either ruined or wrote out every character and relationship I cared about, and while I liked to premise that just wasn't enough anymore. "Kerfuffle" is a great way to describe what's going on now, though. I've been watching from a distance like, "Really show? Really?"
I feel the same way about Sleepy Hollow. I got behind during S2, and when I heard about Abbie I never got caught back up. I will always miss the show we got in the first season, but I'm pretty happy they don't get to make anymore.

Sleepy Hollow was such a travesty. I still cannot believe the bullshit that happened post-S1, and while I know they probably won't ever admit to fucking up, it still astounds me that they seemed to just not give a shit especially in light of the massive outrage that happened after S3.
It always seems like the first seasons of some shows tend to be the best when compared to the mess they became afterwards, most likely since they show the promise of what they could've been.

It's such a good show! It's got everything you need. Action, superheroes, humour, interesting and flawed characters, great character development and LOVE. Everyone loves everyone so much it hurts. It's amazing ♥

I'm continually confused why they didn't just ax Sleepy Hollow last year, and who in their right mind would actually think the show would survive. Like, you killed off half your leads, done away with a good portion of the original cast...yeah. I'm just really, really curious what was going through the writers' minds at the time.

Seriously, though. I don't know if they truly lacked self-awareness or just didn't really care. I think more of the latter since I'm pretty sure they knew what they were doing when they were mistreating Nicole Beharie and some of the other actors they way they did. I mean, with the outrage that occurred how could they not understand? And yet still had the audacity to change everything that made everyone enjoy the show in the first place in S1. Just, ugh.

It's such a shame how they destroyed this show. Season 1 was awesome and had so much potential but they just did EVERYTHING wrong in season 2. Season 3 was better, imo, until the last few episodes where everything fell apart and I can't even talk about what they did to Abbie because it will just be capslock screaming. Abbie/Ichabod will go down as one of those "could've had it all" ships that I never quite get over. :(

I know. It breaks my heart, but also makes me so angry and bitter. Ugh.

While I think it was absolutely stupid to try to continue the show without her, the least they could've done was let her live. There were so many ways they could've written her out without killing her. We're talking about a supernatural show that's played around with time travel before. Just say Abbie went through a portal into the future or something. Use some old-age makeup on Tom Mison and have their last scene together be old-Ichabod reuniting with Abbie in the future. That way, whatever the show chose to do with Ichabod in the present, fans would know he and Abbie found their way back to each other in the end. Like, it's really not that hard to come up with this stuff but they just chose the easy way out and killed her off.
This show did a million things wrong, but I will never understand how anyone in a position of power could've seen the chemistry between Tom and Nicole and NOT gone there with their characters. Maybe that wasn't in their initial plan for the series and that's fine. But how the hell do you ignore that kind of natural chemistry? One can only assume racism played a factor in not putting them together because it certainly wasn't a lack of chemistry or fan support. So yeah, I'm with you on the anger/bitterness :)

I know that the show might not be for everyone, though. So keep that in mind if/when you decide to check it out. But I know fans of the book have been incredibly pleased with how the show has turned out so far.
