I'm gonna rip this town apart until it rains blood.

++ Nina Dobrev is officially leaving The Vampire Diaries. While I'm incredibly happy that she's finally free and off to do greater things for herself and her career, it's interesting to me that the show is going to continue on without her. Not that she was the "be all, end all" aspect, but she basically has been the main character of the show since the beginning; she has been an integral part of the plot and almost everything centers around her relationships with all the other characters in some form or another. Although while I haven't seen anything beyond the first two seasons, I've heard that in the most recent one Elena has been more or less pushed to the background while Caroline has been taking the spotlight, leading to much speculation because of it, and it was confirmed in her statement that she wanted Elena's journey to end at some point. It does make me wonder how the show will do after her departure, whether it'll be cancelled shortly thereafter or become a cockroach like the other longer lasting CW shows, never dying until it is eventually run into the ground by TPTB.

++ Apparently there's a movie deal for the indie horror game, Five Nights At Freddy's. I haven't played it myself but I've watched others online do it (most notably Markiplier's). I'm curious on how it's gonna work for a game like this to be translated onto the big screen. There is plenty of potential with the already built-in lore of the story to explore and expand on, so it could be intriguing on what they plan on doing with it.

++ The blonde wig Emilia Clarke wears for her Vogue UK photoshoot looks a bit more natural than the one she wears on the show in the later seasons. Here just looks like a modern AU Dany. So gorgeous. ♥

++ Hearing all the reports from Hobbitcon that happened almost makes me want to attend conventions again, from the interactions with the actors to the fun shenanigans that occurred. But most importantly is the news that the extended edition of The Battle of the Five Armies will hopefully feature 21 additional scenes. I'm hoping that this is true because there was also confirmation from the actors who were there that indeed, so much was filmed especially of the dwarves, but PJ was forced by the studios to edit a lot of things from the theatrical cut, which explains the chopped up feeling in certain places. Which means will be getting so much more content in the extended. I mean I expected as much, but still. Basically, MORE MIDDLE-EARTH YAY. (ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*:・゚✧

I really like Nina, so hopefully she'll get some good future jobs.

[identity profile] rogueslayer452.livejournal.com 2015-04-08 05:52 pm (UTC)(link)
I adore her (she's one of my crushes), and I hope so, too. With TVD giving her some cred underneath her belt I'm sure she'll snag something interesting. :)

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/_profiterole_/ 2015-04-08 06:00 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm surprised they're continuing TVD without Elena Dobrev. I don't know if I'll keep watching or not. I loved Season 5, which most people disliked, but Season 6 is terrible because of Enzo and I don't feel like watching anything more if he remains in the show written the way he currently is.

[identity profile] rogueslayer452.livejournal.com 2015-04-10 06:13 am (UTC)(link)
It does seem strange. I mean, when lead actors end up departing from their show it's more or less an indicator that the show isn't going to last for very much longer, even if there are supposed actors who have the potential of carrying it after them. I know that TVD has been setting up the Stefan/Caroline relationship to become the next big thing, but how long will that last?

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/_profiterole_/ 2015-04-10 10:30 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, but I'm all for Stefan & Caroline friendship, though they've had fun scenes recently.

[identity profile] sixphanel.livejournal.com 2015-04-08 06:50 pm (UTC)(link)
AU Dany, I love it. I love her ♥

And I haven't bought any Hobbit movies hoping that they'll make something nice with the trilogy, kind of like Harry Potter did. I'm so excited about watching the extended versions! *-* Soon, soon.

[identity profile] rogueslayer452.livejournal.com 2015-04-09 03:30 am (UTC)(link)
♥ ♥ ♥

I have the first two movies on DVD, but not the extended. Now that we (finally!) have a Bluray player I can get the Bluray of each film along with the extended editions. And of course when the entire trilogy comes out in an extended boxset, and then the Hobbit/LOTR mega collection that will undoubtedly come out in due time. Because, you know, reasons. ;)

[identity profile] verdande-mi.livejournal.com 2015-04-08 07:16 pm (UTC)(link)
I can't wait for the exstended version of The battle of the five armies, and then I can't wait to marathon all six films ♥ At the moment I am re-reading LOTR and my love for this universe, be it book or films are never ending!

I haven't read a lot about what was said or happened during the con, perhaps I should take a better look :)

[identity profile] rogueslayer452.livejournal.com 2015-04-09 06:39 am (UTC)(link)
ME TOO. Extended editions for both trilogies, back to back to back. Go hard or go home, basically. ;p

Just search "Hobbitcon 3/Hobbitcon 2015" in the Tumblr tags. You'll find some recaps and pictures from the event.

[identity profile] place-to-hide.livejournal.com 2015-04-08 07:48 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't know what the show will be like without her. Since it focused on her , Stefan and Damon . The love triangle. I hate how a lot of CW tv shows go on forever even though they should have been canceled or ended long ago. Like they're just getting renewed because the shows are just making enough ratings to get renewed or something.

[identity profile] rogueslayer452.livejournal.com 2015-04-09 03:59 am (UTC)(link)
God, the whole love triangle thing was such a bore and unnecessary. I mean it's CW and that's their schtick for everything in their programming, but still. Why does everything in media continue thinking that that's a suitable storyline? Ugh. Either way, I'm hoping that Elena will not be with anyone but herself in her last episode. She deserves much better than any man, tbh. I'm also wondering whether she'll depart as a vampire or being cured as a human again, or if they'll just off her like they did Katherine (still bitter about that).

And yeah, the CW is so polarizing in how they deal with their shows. It's the nature and politics of the business I know, but still.

[identity profile] place-to-hide.livejournal.com 2015-04-09 08:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah. I don't know. Yeah. I hope she doesn't end up with anyone. I kind of think she should take the cure and become human again. Hopefully, they won't off her.

I know.

[identity profile] frelling-tralk.livejournal.com 2015-04-10 02:50 pm (UTC)(link)
I suspect that Elena will leave as human again, they did just introduce Bonnie giving Damon the cure for Elena, so it seems to make sense that Elena will take it. Although Nina has also talked about Elena's ending not being what we're expecting, so who knows...

I doubt they will kill her, it would give Damon way too much grief and moping in the 7th season if she was killed off

[identity profile] ragnarok-08.livejournal.com 2015-04-08 09:29 pm (UTC)(link)
AU Dany is just great ♥

[identity profile] rogueslayer452.livejournal.com 2015-04-09 06:26 am (UTC)(link)
She really is. ♥

Huh I didn't know there was talk of a movie for FNaF. I'd love to see the transition of the jumpscares from the game to the big screen. Should be cool.

[identity profile] rogueslayer452.livejournal.com 2015-04-09 02:38 am (UTC)(link)
I wasn't unaware either until it was announced yesterday. Took me by surprise. I'm hoping that whatever they do, they make it genuinely scary and not cheap in its scares. There's a reason why the game works because as the player who cannot move and have to figure out how to survive until 6am. But I'm figuring that it'll focus more on the lore than anything else, which should be interesting.
whichwanderer: (Elementary → Deducing)

[personal profile] whichwanderer 2015-04-09 04:37 am (UTC)(link)
Honestly I wouldn't mind if it were shot as a mockumentary. That would be a great way to focus on the lore as opposed to following a character's plot. Unless ofc they decide to focus on the deaths following to the game's events, that could be interesting to see but it would probably take away from the mystery of the deaths in the first place which I personally like.

Hmm, either way I'll probably keep an eye on any news for it.

[identity profile] omgpeyton.livejournal.com 2015-04-08 10:50 pm (UTC)(link)
I've played the first and second Five Nights at Freddy's, but only seem to get to day 3ish and can't go on anymore. And I don't have the patience to try again hahaha. It already has all these stories tied to it that the fandom has created. It should be interesting to see if the film is any good!

[identity profile] rogueslayer452.livejournal.com 2015-04-09 03:13 am (UTC)(link)
Have you seen the third one? It was really interesting seeing how things unfolded, though it's mostly through the mini-games and figuring out the puzzles leading to the end. Though I have also enjoyed a lot of the fan theories that have been circulating about ever since the first game. I'm wondering how a film will incorporate the lore and backstory with the elements of how the game operated.

I adore Nina, so I'm glad she's finally leaving TVD, hopefully onto bigger and better things! She's a fantastic actress with so much potential; I really hope her career takes off on an upward trajectory.

Though I'm at a loss as to how the show will continue without her. I feel like they should just cut their losses and end it already.

[identity profile] rogueslayer452.livejournal.com 2015-04-11 09:14 am (UTC)(link)
Me too. :)

Yeah, I'm thinking the show should just end after next season, just because of this announcement shaking things up tremendously for the fanbase and the nature of the show in general. Even if there are actors who have the potential of carrying the show after Nina's departure, it's better to end it now before it goes off the rails (even further) and just ungraciously swan dives itself into the ground.

become a cockroach like the other longer lasting CW shows, never dying until it is eventually run into the ground by TPTB

This is my guess.

[identity profile] rogueslayer452.livejournal.com 2015-04-11 04:28 am (UTC)(link)
It wouldn't surprise me. CW has a nasty habit of keeping their popular shows until they've run them dry, and no matter what "perfect ending" is originally planned it doesn't mean that ending is in sight. Take a look at SPN, for example.

[identity profile] fly-meaway.livejournal.com 2015-04-09 04:14 pm (UTC)(link)
I only ever watched season one of TVD and yet I'm also curious how this show can go on without Nina in the cast. I find it weird that they keep going, even with her leaving. But oh well. I just hope that my friends that still watch the show at least enjoy it.

Woooah, those gifs of Emilia ♥ I just... Wow. (I don't watch the show so I'm not that familiar with her at all but those gifs are amazing lol.)

Ohhh 21 additional scenes??? I so hope so. I WANT IT :D

[identity profile] rogueslayer452.livejournal.com 2015-04-11 10:01 am (UTC)(link)
I have no idea, either. I'm sure incredibly dedicated fans still invested with what's going on will continue watching no matter what, but the announcement no doubt shook things up in general that it won't be the same.

lol, well at least you agree how gorgeous she is regardless. ;)

I HOPE SO TOO. God, just imagine how much more content we'll be getting. I know the funeral scene is definitely included since the actors have talked about it being cut, but other than that it just makes me giddy about what else is going to be featured with the additional scenes. :D

[identity profile] lusimeles.livejournal.com 2015-04-09 06:22 pm (UTC)(link)
ughhhhhhhhhhhhh emilia clarke

i would do unspeakable things for her ;___;

Same. ♥ ♥ ♥

Nina Dobrev is officially leaving The Vampire Diaries
Wait what? I mean, ok, she really hasn't been centre-stage lately, but - it's really weird to continue your show without your main character, right? Also, the show was better when she was more centre-stage. Huh. I'm not invested enough in the show to care much about whether they give it a satisfying end, but... it would have been nice.

[identity profile] rogueslayer452.livejournal.com 2015-04-11 09:27 am (UTC)(link)
It's just a fascinating turn of events. It's quite impressive, really, that Nina has been able to take the initiative and not renew her contract because she felt that Elena's story is basically done with. Indeed, it does leave me to wonder if this decision was also based off whether she knew the show was going to be renewed for more seasons and due to the lack of anything significant happening with her character she just felt that Elena needed that proper closure instead of being dragged around throughout ridiculous storylines. IDK.

Either way though, I have a feeling that despite her leaving the show she might appear in the series finale, whenever it may be.

Emilia Clarke's wig looked so real that I thought she actually went blonde!

I haven't watched TVD in a while so idk how they plan to continue the show without Nina, but I do hope that she gets some good roles. I know that a lot of people didn't like Elena, but she did a lot of amazing work on that show.

[identity profile] rogueslayer452.livejournal.com 2015-04-11 04:38 am (UTC)(link)
Same! I did a double-take when I saw that.

I'm saddened that some people don't actually like Elena, though. I can understand if she's not a favorite, but I've seen people just flat out hate on her and I never understood why. If it's the way she's written in the later seasons, then blame the writers for destroying her characterization, not the character herself.

But anyway, I do hope that Nina gets some amazing career opportunities.

[identity profile] sictransits.livejournal.com 2015-04-10 01:04 am (UTC)(link)
I wonder how long the show will last after Nina leaves, too. I wouldn't be incredibly surprised if next season is the last.

[identity profile] rogueslayer452.livejournal.com 2015-04-11 04:24 am (UTC)(link)
I know that there's been rumor that seventh season might be the last, but then there's the mentioning that the CW wants to order more seasons (as they often do with their most popular shows). With the announcement about Nina leaving, I think the former is most likely to happen.
Edited 2015-04-11 04:42 (UTC)

[identity profile] frelling-tralk.livejournal.com 2015-04-10 02:48 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm disappointed that Nina won't be around for the final season, but I'm cautiously hopeful that season 7 could still turn out okay as long as Caroline, Bonnie, Damon, and Stefan are still there, I only hope they don't do the CW thing of running it into the ground after that :(

[identity profile] rogueslayer452.livejournal.com 2015-04-12 09:12 am (UTC)(link)
Even with the loss of Nina, I do think that some of actors have the potential of carrying the show without her, Paul and Candice in particular with the scenes they've been having together lately, I hear.

[identity profile] giallarhorn.livejournal.com 2015-04-11 04:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Huh. It is weird that the show's going to continue without her, since I thought they had the spinoff for Caroline and co? I mean, ensemble show and all, but still.

I think the biggest issue with the wig she has on the show is that it's usually very well maintained? Just in the sense that hair does get messy, but when we see her it's usually perfect and not a bit out of place.

[identity profile] rogueslayer452.livejournal.com 2015-04-11 05:17 pm (UTC)(link)
The spin-off is The Originals, which focuses on the Original vampires. Nina has briefly appeared on that in a flashback, but that's about it. I highly doubt she'll appear on there again unless they do more flashbacks, but even that seems unlikely. What's interesting is that they had Rebekah in The Originals, who is a main character, be given a new body so that the actress could take some personal time from the show. Although possession is part of the canon, I don't think it'll happen with Elena just to keep her character on the show while Nina isn't; Nina seems rather protective and set on having Elena have a proper ending of her journey.

Yeah, it's just too perfectly set. I much preferred her hair in the first season, because it seemed so much more natural and realistic, both before and after joining the Dothraki. I mean, I know that as the series goes on it'll become more refined in style as she gains confidence and command, but still, she's traveling outside constantly. It shouldn't be that well-maintained with everything going on around her, plus how sleek and smooth it always appears to be. Never mind you can clearly see the wig hairline, which is kind of irritating.

(Also, is it just me, or has the coloring of her wig changed over the course of the show? In the beginning it was clearly very white-blonde, while in S3 and S4 it seems to more of a darker shade? Or am I just seeing things?)

[identity profile] giallarhorn.livejournal.com 2015-04-13 04:37 am (UTC)(link)
It actually looks lighter to me as opposed to darker, or at the very least more contrasted?

[identity profile] rogueslayer452.livejournal.com 2015-04-13 04:51 am (UTC)(link)
Perhaps it's the material of the wig itself and the lighting. Idk.

[identity profile] woodycakes.livejournal.com 2015-04-13 03:50 pm (UTC)(link)
The CW won't let it die haha. i kind of wished they'd jus tend it now but you know the CW. They did it with OTH, they can do it here

and yes, that's definitely a better wig. Oh wigs, you can never get it right
