With the recent news release, it's going to be sad seeing Amy and Rory leave Doctor Who. It's understandable given the structure of the show, companions come and go, and it's about the same length that Rose stayed on the show (Martha and Donna only had one series), but it's still depressing nonetheless. It's like I associate the Eleven with the Glorious Ponds, they are essentially family. The actors too, since they all kind of grew up on the show together since they all started in Series Five so it's going to be difficult seeing that breakup, even though we all knew it was coming eventually. Plus, I know that what Moffat said ("I'm not telling you when or how, but that story is going to come to a heartbreaking end.") coincides what Karen commented previously on how she wanted Amy's exit to happen on the show. It's just that I love the mad, impossible and glorious Ponds, all of them, and while I can handle them departing from the show I don't think I can handle them going out in a devastating manner.

I have loved all the companions but Amy and Rory were the best companions that I have grown emotionally attached to. I guess this is what it's like for any Whovian when there's a character you are attached to but know that someday they will have to leave.

But I have faith that however it happens it will remain true to the characters. This show can be heartbreaking and sad in a beautiful way. I can only hope Moffat does the Glorious Ponds justice in their final days this new series.

In saying that, I can't wait for the Christmas special! ♥

Sometime next series. We don't know when, but it'll be sometime in series seven that's been confirmed.

It was just announced today during an interview with Matt and Moffat, so it'll be circulating around places soon enough. But yeah, emotionally prepared is the right term I'd use as well. :( At least we know the unpredicted fate of Amy and Rory, but what about River? We know her fate as well, but how often is she going to appear in series seven?

I kind of agree with you. With 10, it didn't bother me to switch companions. I loved all three equally (maybe Donna a bit more), and all three of them (and Jack) had different sorts of chemistry with him. They all worked. But with 11, it is all about Amy, Rory, and River for me. I can't imagine him with anyone else. I think 11 has become my Doctor, as much as I loved 9 and 10. And I think there is just something about the family dynamic they have going on (and also, the idea of the awkwardness of him being with their daughter) is just so amazingly perfect.

I've always been attracted to family dynamics in my fandoms and while there were amazing dynamics in the previous seasons with other companions and characters, it was a completely different feel with the relationships of all the characters. The Doctor, River, Amy and Rory. They are all connected to each other, they are all a family together, and it just makes me smile seeing them as a unit. They just fit perfectly and it's going to be hard to say goodbye to all of that, let alone to find another dynamic that worked so well as theirs did.

It is going to be so umimaginably horrible having to say goodbye to the ponds. I have been in denial about them leaving...not to mention Eleven leaving one day down the track, he is very much my Doctor, and the ponds are so much a part of him.

Don't remind me. When the rumors were circulating about Matt Smith leaving my heart almost stopped. I was relieved to hear that he won't be leaving anytime soon, but still, I have lost so many great things in fandom that I have been attached to so I don't want any of them to leave. Which is irrational since DW is all about change, with the companions and regenerations and everything, but still. I never felt so attached to any story like I have with the Eleventh era. You're quite right about the Ponds being part of the Doctor as the Doctor is a part of them, so it's going to be hard watching them depart from each other.

I have to start preparing now, because I will not be able to handle this. Like you said, Amy and Rory are the companions I've been the most attached to, and they're going to be hard to top.

I know it probably gets said about the other companions (and incarnations of the Doctor) as well, but to me, Amy and Rory have been part of the story for a very long time, they've been connected ever since they were kids and they are such a unit together that it's going to be hard letting them go after all of this.

This should be something.

I'm anticipating what series seven is going to be about, so it makes me wonder the possibilities of how this is all going to happen. It's making me nervous a bit, because I love the Ponds and never want them to leave (or have any kind of devastating end.) We can only hope that Moffat will at least make their exit memorable and true to their characters, and make it all worthwhile for an emotional sendoff that they deserve.

I'm going to miss the Ponds SO MUCH. I hope so, so much that they get a good ending.

Me too, bb. I know I should have seen this coming but when you get attached it's hard to let go, and the Ponds are just simply the bestest companions yet. ♥ I hope whatever happens the show does their characters justice in the end.

I'm one of those who isn't that sad, actually. I've been really disappointed with S6 in general and I've never found Rory interesting at all and even Amy's moments of awesome have been kinda few... well, kinda disappointed in myself too in that sense because aside from those two and River, I loved all the other Companions. Just not them.

While it's gonna be a little strange seeing Eleven with anyone else but them, I'm very very eager to see what the new Companion is going to be like!

Can't wait for the Christmas-special either. I loved the last one with Eleven.
