Scream is one of my favorite scary movie franchises.

I think it's utter genius, because it does combine savvy modern teen comedy with the horror genre in a complete unique way that still makes it legitimately scary. It's self-aware, it acknowledges the rules of the horror genre and breaks them at the same time, and it's literally the "this could happen to you" scenario. It not only is a fresh concept but it also plays on itself that is different from any other scary movie out there, even with the two sequels it manages to hold a certain continuity, which makes the films incredibly iconic for our pop culture and to the entire genre. After watching the documentary that just aired on Biography Channel, I've come to really appreciate the heartfelt dedication to creating not only the story but to get it made, against all odds, and to become something new and fresh and exciting for horror movies to come back full force to the film industry.

Now after marathoning the entire trilogy, I am prepared for Scream 4 to be released. April 15th, bbs!

She has the perfect blend of being vulnerable and being smart, and with each film she grows stronger. I like seeing that progression since it kind of is watching her grow up, her "coming of age" in a sense of what the first three movies were about basically. I find that interesting and it makes us root for her.

Also, have you noticed that Neve has hardly aged at all? She looks exactly the same. O_O

It's a really great documentary focusing on the first film and how it came to be, just all the behind the scenes look at how difficult it is creating an original concept for a horror movie. I watched a similar documentary online with Wes Craven discussing how he tried to make A Nightmare On Elm Street and it has that same kind of level of dedicated and determination about getting such a story told.

Scream is just a very special movie because it adds a lot of elements together and it works. As I watched the trilogy again recently, back to back, my love for it hasn't waned at all. So good. ♥

Dude, I'm so scared about what will happen to our original three main characters. Because this is the fourth film, and they love breaking the rules, any one of them could be killed off. All three of them have escaped (nearly barely) in each of the three films, who knows what might be pulled in this one. D: D: D:

It takes you way back, doesn't it? I mean I still can't believe it's been 10 years since the last movie was released. It makes me feel slightly old, even though I know I'm not. It's just hard to fathom how much time has gone by, really.

You know, I rewatched the original recently and was really impressed with how great it was. I remember sneaking into the theatre to see it when it came out, and now as a lover of the horror-genre, I really appreciate its humor and playfulness.

I need to marathon the others before the new one comes out! They shot most of it here in Detroit, a few of my friends were extras on some scenes. I can't wait to see it:)

It really is such a fantastically done movie, from the story and the script to how it all plays out with its sequels. It really is a smart horror series that blends the humor and the scary elements. I highly appreciate it even more now, as well.
