Let's play this lovegame, bb.

++ Dollhouse pretty much rocked last night, and the preview for next week seems to look incredible as well. I'll write up my thoughts momentarily, though it still seems like an empty Friday because no more Battlestar Galactica. Though I think the finale pretty much gave a lot of people to talk about for weeks on end which, by the way, very interesting reactions I've been seeing. I have my own though because BSG has wrapped up I can take my time with getting it all written. I'm worried about TSCC though, and whether these last two episodes are going to be for the season or the entire series due to ratings and whatnot. We'll see.

++ I saw the Where The Wild Things Are trailer and, my goodness it looks adorable. It's my childhood and yeah these days you can't trust the movie industry to make a faithful adaptation, but the look and feel of this seems right, y'know? Also, I have no idea if they used CGI or just costumes, perhaps both, either way it looks fantastic.

++ Eliza Dushku and Summer Glau being adorable together. ♥

++ Anyone remember that movie Gossip with James Marsden? Yeah so it had been available OnDemand and watching it I totes didn't realize it had Sarah Connor (Lena Headey) and Papa Adama (Edward James Olmos) in it as well! I remember going to see this movie way back when because it had Christopher Ralph, known to have been Tobias on the television adaptation of Animorphs, and I didn't necessarily understand it at the time. Watching it now I realize it's one of those movies where the concept was great but how it was executed you have to rewatch it several times in order to fully understand what was happening. It's a gorgeously shot film, though.

I know! It actually looks something worthwhile to see (and I say this because I adored the book growing up too, and I'm glad that they made it realistic looking rather than just crappy CGI; it nearly resembles old-fashioned muppet-like creations with the costuming!)

I haven't watched Dollhouse yet, I plan on watching to tomorrow but I've heard it was like "Band Candy", which I think will rock but a lot of people said it wasn't that great :[

I'm worried about T:SCC as well, but it looks like these may be the last two episodes forever, which makes me mad. Granted the second season started off really slow but it's now getting really really great and I wish that FOX would renew it so it can get itself started, because to me T:SCC is one of those shows that needs a couple of seasons to get things started until we start to see some kick ass stuff.

[identity profile] rogueslayer452.livejournal.com 2009-03-29 05:38 am (UTC)(link)
Bah, I thought it was great. The humor was slightly off given the context of what was happening, but otherwise it gave a lot of information based on the Dollhouse and how they work, at least where recruiting new Actives is concerned and what could possibly be connected to them by other organizations.

I see where a lot of people wouldn't be enthused with S2, since S1 had a lot more action and explosion plotty stuff connected with Skynet, but there's been lots of things this season and they need to wrap it up and it's going to take time. I do know the creator said that whether there is a third season or not the finale will seem like a finale, satisfactory while having a cliffhanger because, well, it isn't the end. But I will be mad, and I don't know whether to blame FOX for the change in timeslots or what, but I will definitely be disappointed if there is no continuation. I love TSCC and I don't want it to suffer just because of a bad decision of timeslot changes.

This makes me wish they'd have TSCC and Dollhouse switch to Mondays, because that I feel will be better.

[identity profile] blackwidow.livejournal.com 2009-03-29 05:53 am (UTC)(link)
I agree, I think that maybe if T:SCC stayed on Monday nights it would've gotten more viewers, same with Dollhouse, which I'm worried might be axed as well. FOX knew that putting these two shows together on Firday nights would not bring in that many viewers because of the Friday death slot, and yet they still seem to want to blame us the viewers for not taking interest in the show. BUT WE ARE! If FOX would realise that there are more people watching the show then just the 3.9 million or so people that have freaking Neilsen boxes, they would keep the shows for more then just one season, so yeah I really blame FOX for the bad ratings, and it makes me so mad because both those shows have really great potential to become hits. Especially Dollhouse.

Personally, I think FOX has no one to blame but themselves for the lower ratings that Dollhouse is getting. They were the ones that made Joss redo five filler episodes, thinking that they would get more viewership with just Eliza and the sex appeal. And don't get me wrong, I enjoy Eliza but I think that Dollhouse isn't just about Echo, it's about everyone there, and that's what Joss was intent on doing but because FOX but Whedon on such a tight lesh, they fucked themselves over, because people watched the first coupel of episodes and gave up cause there wasn't any character interraction, it was mainly just Echo.

[identity profile] rogueslayer452.livejournal.com 2009-03-29 06:11 am (UTC)(link)
They really shouldn't be counting the Neilsen ratings because there are other factors now with our enhanced technology that allows people to view their shows online. For goodness sakes, they even prompted Hulu for Dollhouse! I mean there's downloading, watching on FOX.com, DVR, and so forth. They should know that the main rating system doesn't include everyone.

Fridays are just horrible for any show save a few, so FOX needs a new strategy in possibly rescheduling both shows or promote more.

It's sad because I really have been anticipating Dollhouse and crossing my fingers that FOX doesn't fuck things up, but once it had been placed on Fridays I knew this wouldn't bode well (of course they rearranged a lot of timeslots for most of their primetime shows so, I figured why not give it a chance?) It also really sucks that FOX, even with new execs, seems to want to take control from Joss regarding his show based on them having that tight leash. If they would've allowed Joss to do things his way I'm sure there would've been more viewers during those first several episodes. I was in since the pilot, but I know most people saw it and gave up because of that fact. I understand some of why that needed to happen, but to establish higher ratings you just don't add filler eps in the beginning and then the actiony stuff later on, otherwise you won't get anything anywhere fast.

I'm crossing my fingers that Dollhouse has a full run of the season, as they claim they're doing for its thirteen episodes, but I still want the possibility for a second season because Dollhouse has the potential that many are overlooking.

Gossip! Wait, Christopher Ralph was in it? As who? /misses the good old days of cheesy Animorphs. I knew Lena and James and EJO were inside, thanks to imdb-ing it before watching lol. I love the movie so much.

Dollhouse!!! It's getting better everytime. :D

[identity profile] rogueslayer452.livejournal.com 2009-03-29 09:08 am (UTC)(link)
He was a student, forgot his name, but he appeared in the background quite a bit and had a few lines here and there. Not that important asset to the overall story. But yeah. OMG YOU WATCHED ANIMORPHS?! \o/ Awesomeness. I miss the old days with that cheesiness too, hell even the book series was awesome. :)

Dollhouse truly is becoming my newest obsession, tyvm Joss Whedon. ♥ I love it, and I just hope it does well despite it being on a craptastic timeslot.

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/radon_/ 2009-03-29 09:11 am (UTC)(link)
But hey, pretty people in the background wins, lines or importance to plot or not. LOL YEAH I DID. They showed it on the tv station here and I followed it religiously. And then they stopped showing it halfway and I was (still am) pretty pissed. I love the book series (and at the risk of sounding geeky, shipped Rachel/Tobias. And then she died. Ah well.)

It's my guilty pleasure now. Because it's shiny and stuff. ♥

[identity profile] rogueslayer452.livejournal.com 2009-03-29 10:11 am (UTC)(link)
Hehe, very true. AND YAY! I watched it religiously too, and I didn't care because I thought it was so awesome, and then they stopped after whatever episode (which apparently was the finale or something, or they stopped filming or whatever) and I got mad because I really liked it. Oh well. It's funny, because it appeared to be my first active fandom. Hee. Awww, yes, Rachel/Tobias. ♥

Shiny is a great way to describe Dollhouse. :)

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/radon_/ 2009-03-29 10:24 am (UTC)(link)
Fond memories of childhood lol. I think the show got cancelled or something? idk, but I know the station pulled it just before a really cool episode. So yeah, I was pretty pissed. And yeah, it was my first kinda-active fandom too (since I didn't know about the wonder that are the internets yet)!

Exactly. :D

And the Where the Wild Things are trailer makes me all excited for the film.

We've talked about Dollhouse, so I won't go into that, but Where the Wild Things Are trailer! It made me weep. They actually seem to have done a good job on it.

[identity profile] rogueslayer452.livejournal.com 2009-03-29 10:07 am (UTC)(link)
Doesn't it look fantastic? I mean, I know it's only a trailer and all but from what it looks like, they seem to have done a faithful job. I can't wait for it to come out. :)

[identity profile] spankulert.livejournal.com 2009-03-29 10:40 am (UTC)(link)
I'm jealous of you guys who get to keep up with Dollhouse. I've only caught the first five, but from what I hear on the grapevine flist I've got a great ride waiting for me when I get home. I'm choosing to stay hopeful about SCC, because the ratings have been improving some lately, and if FOX has any brains at all they'll hold on and see if the new Terminator movie
this summer gives them a boost. There's an opportunity, if I ever saw one.

I haven't read Where The Eild Things Are, and I've only seen one image from the movie about a year ago, but it immediately struck me as something I want to see, so looking forward to it :)

Mostly, I just popped in to say my that's a pretty new icon you've got there!

[identity profile] rogueslayer452.livejournal.com 2009-03-29 06:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Can you watch online or is it not available where you're at? But yes, you'll have much to look forward towards. Guaranteed. :) Regarding TSCC, I'm trying to stay hopeful and optimistic too, but the ratings as far as FOX is concerned isn't going as great as we'd like it. But that's right about the new Terminator film, as I know when the show premiered it was during the writer's strike so nothing was on, and now with the new film I'm sure that'll be the boost it'll have for ratings. Hopefully. Crossing fingers it works.

YOU HAVEN'T READ IT?! THAT'S BLASPHEMOUS! :O THAT IS LIKE, CHILDHOOD MEMORIES RIGHT THERE. GO READ IT. NOW.

Hee! *g*

[identity profile] spankulert.livejournal.com 2009-03-29 07:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, but there really won't be any ratings to boost if they cancel the show. I'm just praying the execs don't only have shit for brains.

I'm at sea, and my connection's slower than a really slow thing, so no way do I get to see them. Only thing I can keep up with is SPN, because those eager fangirld upload it to YouTube in crappy quality. Still kinda breaking the rules, but I can't seem to care *g*

hehe I'm Norwegian, so I had a bunch of other stuff I was reading. Now I just kinda want to be lazy and watch the movie, because the one pic I saw just looked so cozy. I'm so glad they went with actual costumes and not CGI. The kid and that thing walking through the forest just looked magical.

[identity profile] rogueslayer452.livejournal.com 2009-03-29 07:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Definitely. I'm praying that they at least consider the kinds of audiences they'll have if they, say, move it to another timeslot or give it another chance. Same with Dollhouse.

Well, it's better than nothing right?

Where The Wild Things Are is a children's picture storybook, it's not really that long, so when you get a chance just go pick it up or flip through it at a bookstore. But yeah, the movie looks fantastic and yay for no CGI! It did look magical, and it looked like old school kind of fantasy rather than computerized stuff that movie studios are doing nowadays.

[identity profile] fresleyforever.livejournal.com 2009-03-29 11:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh I love Where The Wild Things Are!! I'm excited!

Dollhouse was good this week-really funny in some places-LOL Mr Dominic!! I haven't seen the trailer for next week.

TSCC is also awesome-it's really upping its game at the moment and I hope it's renewed! *prays*

[identity profile] rogueslayer452.livejournal.com 2009-03-30 12:07 am (UTC)(link)
The show continues to amaze me with what Joss is doing with it, and dude, you should totally view the preview for next week. I mean really, it look absolutely amazing.

*prays with you* Let's hope that both Dollhouse and TSCC get upped in ratings to be renewed.
