I think I love your brain right now, because thinking about it myself it makes sense that they would be lost and confused like the Dolls are within the Dollhouse, going outside of their comfort zone just isn't possible because they wouldn't know how to survival on their own.

Besides, Castiel is totally the Echo to Raphael's Alpha in this case. O_O

(and Dean is Paul Ballard, particularly when you think about the semi-unrequited love that Echo had for Paul, except Paul didn't give into it? That's how Dean and Castiel are in certain ways, don'tcha think?)

Of course I also connect the angels to the Cylons in BSG, particularly because of the superiority complex and once a Cylon has a personal experience with humanity they have more compassion and understanding for them, and that could threaten the "programming" of their species survival by sympathizing and compromising with the lesser, non-perfect creations of the One True God, etc. Then again, I've always compared angels and Cylons together, since the similarities are too uncanny to not make note of.
