Well, we don't know yet. Granted this season has been sucking but that doesn't mean something like this shouldn't be something to be curious about.

What if the Colt is connected to the missing weapons in Heaven? What if the Colt is a piece of one of those artifacts and specifically given to Samuel Colt by the angels themselves to help prevent the demons from taking over (hence the huge Devil's Trap surrounding the Hell's gate he'd built)? These are things to ponder until we get more information about the episode itself.
