Well firstly, they up and bought a new house and moved. Dean was freaking out and overbearing protective man with them all episode: losing his temper with Ben, putting them on lockdown and not letting them leave the house. Dean leaves to go help Sam.
Then he goes back to Lisa and Ben. Lisa gave an awesome speech at the end of the episode about how Dean isn't a construction worker, that he is a hunter. That he didn't really want to be there, he wanted to be out with Sam fighting the good fight ect, ect. Dean tries to protest and she tells him she is asking him to go. All of this is awesome and makes me think Lisa is a very smart, capable woman. And then at the end she basically tells him that she and Ben will be sitting on their asses waiting for him to show up whenever he wants and he can have both worlds, thus negating the rest of her awesome speech. Also basically refuting all the emphasis she put on Ben having a solid, dependable father figure in his lfe as well (not that I thought Dean ever was considering he said he basically suffered PTSD over the year and was suffering nightmares and drinking, but that's a whole other issue).
So Dean will spend the season manpaining over missing his family and probably making tearful phone calls. Until the end of the season (oh heck probably hiatus) when he will show back up on Lisa's doorstep and she'll be waiting to welcome him back with open arms.
