Maybe the villains were able to get Maury out of his own nightmare world and now he's back? That'd be frakking twisted but oh so awesome.
I think it's safe to say the Company was holding other people besides Sylar, Adam, and Peter and that the villains busted out.
I'm being very optimistic about this season and have faith in TPTB in making this season kickass.
